Everyone else is doing this meme, so why not me, too? But first, a joke: What's the difference between The Rolling Stones and a Scotsman?
( If you haven't heard this one, click here. )
1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
My father heard my first name in a radio serial. I'm glad he outvoted my mom, otherwise I would've been Carrie in high school...in the late 70's. Bad, bad, bad---!
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
I don't anticipate having any kids, as I'm 45. For a girl, I rather fancied Moira Lalique...Moira for the Celtic-love of it, and Lalique because it's pretty and hasn't been done to death. Mollie as a nickname. Alas, all the names that I used to think would be good for a son have gotten ultra-trendy, so Logan, Andrew and Daniel are out.... I'd probably go with Peter (in memory of my brother), Martin or Byron.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
I *think* I remember my folks saying "Carl" was a contender, but my mother said she knew I was a girl from the very beginning.
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
*sigh* There are *two* names I like: Lillian, which is a family name (one of my aunts)...it's classic, easy to spell and has some sentimental value...or Clancy, which is uncommon, not necessarily feminine and has a high energy vibe, IMO.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
There are reasons I don't use my given name (and NO, I'm not going to tell you what it is, because when I was growing up I was teased about it all the damn time and I fucking hate it. Period.). I go by my middle name, and I often have idiots try to call me "Maria"---how do you get Maria out of Maree, I ask you? I'd change it if I ever had enough extra money for all the legal folderol, honestly.
