What a day!
Jul. 30th, 2006 08:45 pmI haven't yet done the computer upgrade, because I've been so damned *busy*. Yesterday evening, I had dinner with the C. family, which was a noteworthy event. Everyone was there, except the oldest grandchild, who had to work. We went to the Chinese buffet on the Island, had a great time schmoozing for about two hours.
Today was *extremely* busy---Baked corn muffins for church potluck at 9 AM; Lammas ritual at church: I called West; went over to Kat's, where I got to spend about an hour chatting with her son C., GK's brother (I'm trying not to out-and-out namedrop, for privacy reasons; if you know the family, you'll understand who I'm talking about, otherwise, don't worry about it.), whose hair is violet at the moment. Vividly violet. Oh, and it's a mohawk, and trails about six inches down his back. He showed me his drawing portfolio, and I *drooled* over all the celtic knotwork he's done, particularly the pentacles/pentagrams. After he and his SigOther and offspring got on the road, GK and I got pix of the cloak (which I'll post as soon as she e-mails them to me), which is done except for hem and clasp.
Then she and I went over to GK's grandmother's apartment, which is where she and her family stayed during their visit. We did all the last minute tidying and packing, which included me vacuuming, her wrestling a twin mattress and box springs down a flight of stairs, while I also made two trips via elevator with cartsful of luggage, and the rails for the bed. It was quite the challenge to fit myself, with the cart, including six and a half feet of protruding bedframe, onto the elevator with an old lady in a wheelchair. (I tried to get her to go ahead, and I'd take the next one, but she insisted. No harm done, thank You!)
Back to Kat's to unload the bed, then back to the apartment to show Grandma Sis how GK had gone through and organized her apartment. GK is a genius in the organizational department; as we were saying our farewells, I said my place next time? and to her credit, I think she might be entertaining the idea.
I came home and found lots of lovely e-mail that made me squee, since my sweet Kerttu has been on vacation for two weeks, so I haven't heard from her at all. Now we're making up for lost time....
