The girls' night out went well. We got a bit lost finding the place, but once we got there, it was well worth it. I had lamb shanks, courtesy of Reenie, and an absolutely superlative chicken tortellini soup. Big surprise came when SA pulled me aside and palmed me $10, saying she knows things are tight for me. I'll say! Right now my bank balance is completely to the right of the decimal point. Am hanging out at the library, waiting to find out if Daniel got anything done last night on my baby.

Very unsettling, not having it at home, and having to look over my shoulder while going about my business. Certain parts of my f'list should not be displayed in public!

The lovely thing about libraries is, they have books. Okay, this may win me a couple of points in a "state the obvious" contest, but I've been without a library card for so long (long story, don't bother) that I'd forgotten that we've got a rather nice library here. I wandered around for a bit---if I'm going to spend an afternoon somewhere, a place with books and A/C is a winner.

Anyway, I rummaged around and found a copy of "The Gun Seller", and passed the afternoon quite agreeably. The narrative voice is possessed of a certain deranged genius, and I had to smother laughs which might have otherwise have earned me eviction from the premises. Definitely worth reading; I may even try to track down a copy just to examine the prose more closely.

Let's hope I don't have to go through this again tomorrow....

This piece of shit isn't doing what I'm telling to to do and I'M NOT FUCKING HAPPY ABOUT IT! Any of you lot have a clue how to configure the channels for WinTV2000?!

I have cable modem, and I was TOLD that I'd be able to use that connection to watch TV on my monitor, and it ain't fucking happening. I set it to scan the channels, which it did, no problem, but now it's like they fucking disappeared into the fucking Bermuda Triangle and I can't get it to pull up anything at all. Black screen of fuck-all is what I've got.

I had to wait nearly two months to get this fucking thing on backorder and get it installed, and now it doesn't fucking work! Goddamn it, I can think of so many other things I could do with that fucking money!!!
