vanillafluffy: (naked cellist)
While sitting happily in front of the TV, watching CSI: Miami (Have I said "Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] kukkurkurat?" I will....) this evening, I completed a project for something I got talked into by a gal from church, namely, an Art Swap. We're each supposed to make something to represent the theme, then we get together next week and exchange projects. The theme is "belly dancer", so I was definitely "in" for that one!

I made a hammered copper wire bracelet---the kind where there's a chain between the bracelet and a ring. Adjustable rings are easy enough, and so was the connecting chain part, but I'm not really happy with how the bracelet section turned out. I may end up reworking it between now and the end of the week. (But it has to be done by then, because next Sunday I'm off to Schnauzerland and won't be taking any wire projects along. Because of the critters, it's not a friendly environment for wirecraft.)

Originally, I was thinking of doing something in the way of a papermache sculpture as my contribution. WTF was I thinking? I've done papermache maybe twice in my entire life...then, yesterday in church, I was thinking, "Okay, I need to get a whole bunch of newspapers, get them squishy-goopey-gluey and find a bottle with the right shape as the base, mold it, let it dry, paint it, decorate it---wait a freaking minute! I have a life, and said life includes other crafts, and frankly, bling is usually a good choice. Copper has nice energy, I like to work with it, I know how to work with it, and I have an idea---!"

What was I thinking....?
