If you count the time spent hitting the snooze alarm before I crawled out of bed at oh-dark-thirty (5:48 AM to you mortals), then I've had *about* four hours sleep. Maybe. Barely.

This is the morning of the great Asbury Arms Spring Sale---local retirement home---and I needed to hit Wal*mart before I went, both for groceries and folding money. As usual, I was the first person there (6:59 AM); I count it a wasted morning if I'm not one of the first ten people in the door.

No sign of [livejournal.com profile] missybrat this time, but I *did* run into another former co-worker from the medical billing office, and spent the last twenty minutes or so before the doors opened talking trash about how the place has gone to the dogs. (Mundo schadenfreude!)

They actually, for the first time in living memory, opened the doors a couple minutes early, and I dashed in. Didn't see anything on my first pass through housewares, nothing in linens, on to jewelry, where I acquired some cute little trinkets. Made a second pass through the previous departments, where I found a 20-cent pyrex bowl and a 10-cent aluminum prize---something rare I've long coveted but could never find affordably---a china dish with an aluminum rim. This one has a pretty fruit design, and I'm delighted with it.

The real treasure, though, was outside with the rest of the furniture. I found a cheval mirror! (That's one of those free-standing mirrors in a frame, for those of you who are less geeky than I.) I've been wanting one for the boudoir-to-be, and this one is perfect, at least in the sense of being a classic style AND the right colors (ivory, with gold accents). It's a bit wobbly, and I'm going to have to tinker with it, but when I tell you that I walked into the sale with $25 and left with $10.50 and got a bunch of stuff including the mirror---well, let's just say it was worth getting out of bed just for that!

Going BACK to bed now....
