Yesterday as I was leaving work, I stopped to chat with the gal who bought my Le Snobbi bag. She was selling Girl Scout candy for her daughter (in my day, it was just cookies), and there was a tin box shaped like a book, which I admired. One of the gals in the vicinity said it would be a great place to keep one's stash in. I'm a respectable old lady these days, I said. I haven't had a stash in years*.

At which point, several people asked how old I was. Guess, I coaxed them. The results were, 34, 37 and 38. I smirked genteelly and admitted to being on the shady side of 40. Given that I'm actually 48, I'm apparently holding up rather well!

Now I need to go fetch my check and begin the merry whirl that is my weekend....

What a day I've had! Was up before the crack of dawn, down in Melbourne before 9 AM for the second day in a row getting my check. I was the first person at the window of that branch of my bank, then I breezed over to BrightHouse and paid my bill.

As I was working my way back to US1, I found [livejournal.com profile] missybrat's Christmas present, although she's going to get it this weekend.

Headed north and detoured to the Entenmann's store in Rockledge, where I acquired four loaves of bread and noticed to my stunned delight that the Hess station over there has regular gas for $2.39 a gallon. Filled up, under $20, yay!

Since my roots are getting noticable, I picked up color---Reckless Sand, hee!---developer and a new comb at the beauty supply store. ($9--because I'm worth it!)

Grabbed a very few things at Publix---I will be having a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches over the next couple of weeks, I can tell you that!---then hit the water department and paid my bill in full. (I just got it yesterday, I could, theoretically have let it ride until next payday, but now I don't have to freaking worry about it.)

Came home. Had lunch. Took the dregs of my check to the WalMart branch of my bank and deposited enough to cover my car and homeowner's insurance, which I just paid online.

On my way out the door, I ran into Kat, who'd been shopping. We fell to talking, I followed her out to her vehicle, and catastrophe! Her keys weren't in her purse. We went back inside. No one had turned them in to the lost and found. Trekked around for a half-hour while she tried to remember which departments she'd wandered through. Tried to call BC to get him to pick up her spares and bring them over, but no answer. Went back out to her vehicle, where she found the errant keys under the front seat.

Never a dull moment, huh? And thank goodness they turned up, because although I wouldn't mind running her home for her keys, my front seat is a hot mess. I've put off cleaning it out, because my driveway slopes steeply---was gonna do it at S's, but it rained the whole time I was there---and shame on me. I need to find a level surface, preferably in the shade---and git 'r done.

Although I'm now pretty well broke again, I *do* have something to look forward to. A bottle of very nice perfume should be landing in my mailbox in the next couple of weeks.

I know, I know---I can just hear you now: "'Fluffy, you're tapped out, what are you doing, spending money on such frivolity?!" But you see, last month when Surfer Girl was here for training, I won a $25 gift card AND they gave everyone coupons for 50% off their order plus free ground shipping. We'd gotten the fragrance testers during a previous visit, and I've fallen in love with the stuff. To me, it smells like a yummy cross between pink roses and ruby red grapefruit. So, half price, free shipping and $25 free money got me a 1.7 oz. bottle...my cost, 44 cents. (Dratted sales tax!) Okay, that's less than a soda or a candy bar, and it'll make me feel good for much longer.

That's my day, and it isn't even 5 PM. Wow, that's high gear, for me.
