Yesterday, I fell in love.
As I mentioned earlier in the week, there was a car show yesterday in the parking lot where I work. Supposedly, it was until 4, but they must've given out the prizes early, 'cause I got there at 2:15 and it was emptying out fast.
There were still some nice cars there---a lot of 50s-60s-70s iron, restored to a high shine and chromed to a fare-thee-well. Two Cobras---shiny!---a Corvette that was about my age, two 40 Fords, but not The One I've reported on---a coppery 60s Firebird, a 51 Ford Fairlane---you get the idea.
And then, there was The Car. Very Bonnie and Clyde. Snare-drum headlights and running boards. It's still in dull grey-black primer, not restored, dechromed except for the door handles, and I had to hunt the Net for clues to its identity. Finally concluded that it's a 1934 Chevy Coupe---nearly identical, except for the grille.

The differences between this and "mine" are, the grille on my '34 has diagonal ribbing, and there are no louvers on the cowling. Maybe I'm mistaken about the year, or maybe the front end was customized somewhere along the line. But OMG, much love. I have a "thing" for cars in primer, and what added that purrfect detail of authenticity were the feline paw-prints where someone's cat had climbed the door....
If the sweet beast WAS mine, I'd probably go with either matte black satin or maybe get all girly with it and go two-tone: lavender and creme (The Lavender Hill Mob...). *le sigh*
