A typical Monday evening
Aug. 22nd, 2011 09:11 pmI ran up to Publix this evening. I wanted to swap a couple cartons of diet cherry for diet lime.
All day long, I was lounging around in an old black knit shift, but a few years back, I pledged that I wasn't going to go out looking like a shlub, so I changed before I left---black palazzo pants and a silver leopard print top with grey flats. Nice looking, although the pants are several years old, the top was on extreme markdown and the flats were Payless BOGO.
This has become a habit; I have a neurotic fear that the ONE time I go out in some tattered housedress, I'll run into someone from my past, who'll sneer patronizingly at me. (I have a certain someone in mind, someone I never liked to begin with, a two-faced individual whom I haven't seen or heard from since the job before last, when I *was* a habitual schlub.)
Long story short, as I was coming out of Publix, a horn honked, and there in the handicapped space was J. Now, I love J, but I think it does her good to see a certain standard of couture. She saves her "good" clothes for church, "good" being whatever doesn't have holes in it. *sigh* At my worst, I still at least *patched* the holes. I don't think J sews...at all.
Anyway, we shot the breeze for a little while, and now I'm back at the house watching Hoarders. After that, Alphas, and then I'll probably head upstairs and watch another ep of Ellery Queen on DVD. It stars Jim Hutton, Tim's dad. There's a family resembl;ence, although oddly, I swear Jim sounds like he's channeling Jimmy Stewart.
The C's called from the road, gave me a few instructions about what to do before Hurricane Irene gets here, AND put me on the track of a working garage remote. THAT will make my life much easier!
Oh happy day: Sons of Anarchy's new season starts Septemper 6th!
