Aug. 19th, 2018 05:50 pmI gotta say, I had a great time on Friday.. It felt to me like we got a lot done: the parking permit, the trip to ReStore (even if the result was totally self-indulgent--those tiles are glorious!). Walmart, the mail and just hanging out talking for a little while in a leisurely manner and not being time-crunched.
So, Wednesday...I think most of the essential tasks are hanging things: the lamp, the curtains, that wall unit (may need a few more toggles for that, just in case) the coat-rack on door and that rod in my bedroom. There's also that lovely bronze-finished towel bar just sitting there--but that should probably wait til the bathroom is painted! It would be nice if we could yank out the breakfast bar, 'though I don't expect to bring in the desk/hutch from the shed. Maybe we could bring in the other chair and dispose of the one I'm using now?
I know you said Home Depot is a separate project, but I've been mentally compiling a list of things to get there (aside from paint samples for the bathroom to harmonize with the tiles):
Plastic to cover the flooring in the kitchen--the piece that's down there doesn't cover as much space as needed and if we can get that, we can maybe re-tile the area in question, cover it with the plastic and it'll be good to go. (I mean before my surgery, not this week, obviously)
Tile adhesive and grout. Maybe blue grout? Undecided. Can get craft sticks at dollar store to ensure spacing. Good project for while I'm recuperating!
You also mentioned a light kit for the fan. Speaking of lighting, do you think, since I'm hoping to paint that mirror-surround white, that while we're at it we could swap out that ghastly light fixture that's up there? I wasn't thinking about it the other day at ReStore--I had desk chairs on my mind or I would've looked into lighting when we were there. Also a solid, tall bookcase for my closet--remember? We talked about putting an organizer in the middle...That would be absolutely amazing.
I've been hauling clothes and stuff into the living room--it took me about 20 minutes just to be able to get to where I could stand in front of the closet. I couldn't do it all at once, of course, but I did things while I was sitting down resting, like tidying my bedside table and policing the kitchen. Next up, trying on, sorting and laundry. Massive freaking laundry.
Also, I wanted to ask, would it be okay if I sent some non-clothing items to our friend's sale? Some of it is nickel and dime housewares and I don't see the Bubonicon crowd getting enthused about it. I just want it out of here, and if I can make a couple bucks before it gets donated to wherever she's donating her leftovers, yay!
I know, I'm rambling--so many ideas, so many projects! I look around and see how things are falling into place and I'm thrilled. I've been here for a year and a half, and it's just starting to feel like home.
Let's see...the short version: You're bringing toggle bolts, two kinds of black shoe polish, if you have some Gorilla Glue, that would come in handy...if I think of anything else, I'll let you know!
Love,
Me
