The Shoe!love Meme
Favorite style of shoe
Ballet flats
Current favorite pair
Little silver flats
Shoes you can't live without
A good pair of loafers
Oldest shoes you own
A pair of shiny shoes that my mom had for her silver anniversary in 1966. Of my own shoes, a pair of wood platforms that I had in high school, circa 1978.
Newest shoes
I just got a whole bagful from a co-worker
Most expensive shoes ever
Boots made by Levi, $75 in 1986
Shoes you wish you hadn't bought
Some boots I got from eBay---I paid crazy money to get them and they don't fit!
Shoes you wish you still had/fit
Those Levi boots, which I reheeled and resoled about four times. They're too small now, the leather of the boot itself is wearing out on the right boot, and Levi no longer sells footwear. Wah!
Shoe trend that you laugh at now
Big clunky heels...although the stability was nice. I have a pair of fuzzy leopard print platform Mary Janes on display on my hat shelf.
Fantasy shoes
A pair of elaborate, knee-high cowboy boots that actually fit my meaty calfs. (Is the plural still 'calves' when you're referring to body parts?!) They would definitely have to be custom-made!
Shoe confessions
When it comes to sneakers and classic loafers, I cross-dress.
Favorite shoe memory
Went to a meeting with my ex, took my shoes with me---lace-up black patent peep-toes with big chunky heels---and put them on in the parking lot when we got there. He was impatient to go inside and couldn't understand why I was so concerned about "stupid shoes". As soon as we walked in the door, one of the women there exlaimed, "Great shoes!" I turned to him and said, "THAT'S why!"
Favorite fictional shoes
Singeli's Silver Slippers (from "The Golden Books Treasury of Elves and Fairies", which I got for Christmas when I was five or so) A shoemaker's daughter has a pair of beautiful shoes that were charmed by fairies when they were made. They grow with her and provide a Cinderella-like means of identifying her to the prince whose life she saved. I always thought Singeli was a lot cooler than Cinderella because she did more than dress up and go dancing to find her prince!
How many pairs of shoes do you own? (Guestimate if necessary)
30-40---? I know, I need to thin the herd.
What kind of shoe/slippers do you wear around the house?
Mostly barefoot, but for cold weather, I have some leopard print, also a pair with Rottweiler heads
High heels---love 'em or hate 'em?
Love the look of them, hate trying to wear them, so I usually don't---I'm 5'10", I don't really need the height!
Do you match your shoes to your bag?
Sometimes. As long as they both work with the outfit.
What size shoe do you wear most often?
11W
Describe yourself as if you were a pair of shoes
I'm a pair of very high-heeled (tall) Mary Janes (feminine without being way girly), well-cushioned and comfortable (fat, with a sense of humor), with gold trim (blonde), starting to show signs of wear (40-something), but still hanging in there.

Date: 2008-06-09 04:00 pm (UTC)I also do not wear high heels (I'm five feet and a smidge, so what's the point?) and often wear boy's sneakers. I have two pair of boy's suede Vans that I sometimes wear to work in the winter. My women's shoe size is a seven and I can often find, for much less money, the same shoe in boy's fives.
