Snagged, as usual, from [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal

Name a CD you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:
"An Evening Wasted with Tom Lehrer"
EDIT: Okay, clearly everybody and her sister has this one. Show of hands, who's got "Yngwie Malmsteen: Fire and Ice"? ANY Malmsteen? Bueller?

Name a book you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:
"Rowan Farm" by Margot Benary-Isbert

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:
"House of the Long Shadows" (VHS) Because where the hell else are you going to find Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and John Carradine all in the same place?!

Name a place that you have visited that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:
Gaslight Village at Lake George, New York

Name a piece of technology or any sort of tool you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:
I have a T-handled tool (don't know the proper name of it) used for turning water on and off at the meter. Quite useful during plumbing emergencies!

Hah. I have "An Evening Wasted with Tom Lehrer." I've also turned water off at the main with that tool. :-)

I figured someone would have Tom. (It was a ploy to see who else I could get into a songalong with on "Poisoning Pidgeons in the Park".)

Does that tool have a name?

You, me and everybody else, by the looks of it! And here I thought it might be a trifle obscure. Silly me.

We were watching a PBS Special on Sesame Street a year or so ago, and I was shocked to find out that many of the songs on SS were written and performed by Tom!

It was! It was funny, too, how quickly I remembered the words to the songs....despite not having seen SS in eons.

I was just a little too old to get into SS---high school, I think. I've caught bits and pieces over the years, but not enough to sing along.

We have the Tom Lehrer greatest hits (or whatever he called it) compilation. My son learned several of his songs for piano and once sang the Periodic Table for credit in chemistry class. Great stuff!

We also own one of those T-tool water main wrenches and have been known to lend it to neighbors experiencing "temporary difficulties" with paying their water bills. :D

My mind boggles at the thought of CorgiKid belting out "The Vatican Rag" at a church talent contest at St Procrastination....

We'd be excommunicated on the spot if he did! :D No, he learned them just for fun, and my, what interesting conversations one can have with a 13-year-old about "The Masochism Tango."

His piano teacher strongly approves of Tom Lehrer because he's so funny and his music is so good that it gives intermediate students a nice little workout.

I don't have greatest hits, but I have at least one other. The one I wish I did have is the one with "National Brotherhood Week," "WW3 Rag" and "Folk Song Army." Those songs still make me smile incredibly.
