Playing catch-up

Okay, the clutch is fixed. Car runs. Knock wood, I'm back at work tomorrow.

In today's mail was my first birthday card of the season from ang5fam. Knowing my fondness for vintage, the card she sent shows a well-loved pottery jug on a bright yellow quilt. I tucked the contents safely into my savings account as a reserve.

Had lunch with missybrat this afternoon and met her SigOther for the first time (and his service dog). Congrats, hon! It's nice to see something is going right in your life!

Went from there to Wal*mart (bank, caffeine, Moose Tracks), came home, caught up on some email and jinxed myself---karaokegal, we had a nice little thunderstorm, rain and all, this afternoon/evening.

Oh phooey! Was that the end of Faye or the beginning of Gustave? Who definitely sound like some kind of fanfic waiting to happen. Maybe something for anthropomor_fic.

Fay has self-destructed, Gustav is headed for the Gulf---it's Hanna we're biting our nails about now. I'm particularly concerned because a) next week, I'm supposed to be pet-sitting for 3 dogs and a cat in a house on a barrier island with a canal in the backyard, and b) I can't afford to miss any more time from work---Fay fucked me over but good in that department!

I hadn't even heard about this Hanna thing because everyone is all focused on Gustave because it's heading for New Orleans.

Well all natural disasters have their advantages. I just can't see going through this year after year.
