Yesterday's lunch at Olive Garden with Red was divine. (Well, except for the service.) It's so great to have someone around who knew me when. GK and I go way back, but Red predates her by several years, and she remembers my dad and my brother (and dogs Lady and Patsy) and various dearly departed relatives. It's comforting to have someone I can reminiscence about them all with.

We can also carry on rousing conversations such as "Vengeance Unlimited?! I remember that show! OMG, Michael Madsen is so gorgeous!" There was also mutual enthusiasm expressed for Kindred: the Embraced---and btw, yes it WAS Jeff Kober on last night's ep of The Cleaner, go me!

I was the delighted recipient of a bag of Ghiradelli dark chocolate pieces, an IOU for Iron Man (coming out September 30th), and a musical card that plays the theme from Star Wars---did I mention that we sat through it together 2 dozen times in the theater? It was our Saturday afternoon activity for months---we'd catch two shows back-to-back, and we had call-backs and snide comments and in-jokes galore. *nostalgic smirk*

Then I got to go to work, with enough leftover pasta for dinner, yum! Nobody too deranged called in---this is good!---I drove PJ's car, which has A/C and a functioning speedometer. Got back here to watch The Cleaner, slept solidly for six hours, and got with Kat for lunch. Steak'n'Shake = chocolate cokes, yum!

If I could just figure out how this fucking satellite TV works*---how the HELL do you bring the DVD player into the loop?!---life would be fabulous.

I wish I did know how to work the satellite TV! We got to my daughter's house last Friday and couldn't turn on the TV until they got home from work as we didn't know how!!
Sometimes I long for the old days of a standard black and white set with 3 channels and rabbit ears on top--ha ha
I am telling my age now!!

And come next year, even rabbit ears won't work. Sometimes I think we're killing ourselves with esoteric technology!

Wanted to tell you of a fab Mexican restaurant in Rockledge- it's inexpensive, fresh and delicious!! It's called La Bamba on US 1. That's where I am going to request to be taken for my birthday dinner on the 13th. It's small but service was superb, staff was so friendly and by the time we were leaving, there was a line to get in. Go early!

I've driven past it, but never been in. I'll have to see if Kat's interested. We can break out of the rut of Kay's Place....

Sometimes I hate technology... Everything used to be much simpler.

This thing is, I don't think I'm that clueless, technologically speaking---I have no qualms about hooking up my own TV/VCR/stereo, I've evacuated for enough hurricanes that I can tear down/set up my computer in 15 minutes or less---but I've never had Dish before, I don't have a manual to consult, and it's very frustrating.
