"It started right up for me this morning," said my mechanic. I figured maybe there was a clog in the fuel line that got knocked loose going up and down the flatbed, but on the way home, it started running rough when I had to idle at lights.

Right now, it's sitting in my driveway. Kat's coming by in a while and we're going up to Walmart so I can deposit enough cash to pay (some of) my bills. Then...I don't know. I just don't know. I'm so crazy with stress I think I'm going to go blind. I'm sick to my stomach with dread.

All this because some idiotic pencil-pusher has decreed some arbitrary number for call handle times. None of this, NONE OF THIS would be happening if I was working from home. That is, the 2500 extra miles I've had to log since May have helped kill my car, drain my wallet AND stress me out. Thank you very much!

Am I rambling? Probably. I've already told PJ and AI, if anything happens to me, if I keel over in the call center, get creamed by a semi, or wind up in a rubber room, I authorize them to sue the bejezus out of my employer. It's all their fault.

:( *sigh* You really do need to find a kinder (and CLOSER!) place to work.

*nods* It's just, in this economy, especially our local economy, I'm happy to have a job. (And it's only going to get worse, because we're about a year and a half away from losing the shuttle program---then our local economy is REALLY going to go to Hell.) Plus, it's a job I actually enjoy---except for the commute. I've had numerous genuinely shitty jobs, so I know what a rare thing that is!

If I could find something within a couple of miles of home with comparable benefits, yeah, I'd jump on it, but the competition for jobs is fierce, and my skills are somewhat one-sided. I give good phone, but only incoming. I can't do outbound calls; I've tried. It gives me panic attacks. I'm trying to keep slogging through, and hope that they get the peak season ramped up and send me back home again. SOON.

I thought that you were working from home a couple of days per week--??
I am sorry about the car troubles.
I gave Ben your # and he will call you. He had side jobs all week-end as well as studying. His only day off during the week is Thursday- is that a good day for you?

No, alas, I was recalled to the building in May. That instantly started sucking $100-120 each month since then for gas, and now car repairs.

Thursday is okay, but it will have to be between 11:30 and 1:30. I'm usually up around 11 and my rule of thumb is ON US1 by 2:00 and I don't have to endanger myself or others to be there. As long as I can tell him what I need before I go and can hand over the cash, it's all good. I know I don't have to be there to supervise.

Just hung up from Ben (he was at night class) and he said he will be there between those hours on Thursday.

I need a LOLcat icon "hed esplodz?!", cuz that's pretty much where I am right now. The Universe is seriously fucking with me, and I'm damn tired of it.

I'm SO glad you clarified that. (Although lately, it feels like you had it right the first time.)

Which is why I had to run in and change it.

My tired fingers are not your destiny.
