vanillafluffy: (Do I look happy?)

Most of my Friday was pretty good---I'll catch youse guys up on that later, when I'm less tired and pissed off. However, I made the fatal mistake of dropping by Schnauzerland after CapeGypsy's party---when I got there, S & T were arguing, then, as I was leaving, I fell over a pallet that was lying in their driveway.

I couldn't see it and wasn't expecting it, so I slammed my foot into it and went down heavily. I have a cut on the top of my left foot, a big bruise below my right knee, but it's my right big toe that's killing me. I don't *think* it's broken, but holy shit, it hurts.

Luckily, I have some leftover dental painkillers. Thank the deity of your choice that it's not anything that'll keep me from working. Here's hoping I can make it through tomorrow in one piece!

(Coming home to an email inbox full of comments on today's drabble was good for morale, too. Hint, hint....)

Ouch! And having done the broken toe thing back in the summer, it's amazing how out of proportion the pain is to the damage...

I swear to God, if I had crutches, I'd be using them. I can just about limp back and forth to the bathroom, and driving does NOT seem like a very good idea at all. Which leaves me in a tight spot, since I *can't* afford to call out, financially or attendance-wise.

Oh, man! And there's no way to drive stick with just one foot.

If it's sprained or wrenched instead of broken, buddy-taping it to the next toe and wrapping tape around your foot across the joint may help with the using-it pain because that stabilizes it.

I have A Plan: if I can't get undertime, I'm going to get a ride down there with Red and a ride home from Missybrat. (Red lives in that neck of the woods, and is up there this afternoon for lunch. Worst case scenario, I might be a bit late, which is better than calling out.) Meanwhile, I'm wearing corduroy slip-on house shoes which are fairly loose-fitting and limping cautiously.

It's moderately better, despite driving back and forth to Melbourne and not being able to elevate it while there. My plan calls for 1. More drugs, 2. Staying home and staying off it tomorrow, 3. Trying to take it easy Monday, although I DO need to deposit my check, even if I don't do anything else (although since my bank is IN WalMart, shopping will probably happen).

I may be able to secure some crutches for you if you need / want them. I could also come by and take your deposit to Wal-Mart for you if you don't feel like getting out. Let me know---631-7749. I am only around the corner.

BTW- Ben did cash that check late Fri afternoon as he had a road trip to Tennessee.

Thanks, hon. I'm not really worried about the check---PayPal finally went through so there's SOME money in there (enough for that).

The toe has improved, although I'm still favoring it. Skipped church today, I figure I'll rest it and take care of business tomorrow---if you're free, I'd love a ride over there so I could avoid having to shift gears (although actually, it's not so much that as braking which hurts---I've been praying madly for green lights!).
