This morning, Kat took me to an early lunch, and we went over to Lowes so she could get ceiling fan info. Also got some copper wire, so I can work on some jewelry projects and some batteries for my desk fan at work.

She then followed me over to the tire store, where they discovered a hole and plugged it. (Cost: $7. Not having to drive the donut to work: Priceless.) Oh, and the "Check Engine" light stayed off, so I'm going to think good thoughts that yesterday was a glitch.

From the tire store, Kat and I went our separate ways. I'd noticed a car I wanted to look at at a pawnshop on Clearlake, so that's where I headed.

As advertised, I have only one track. When I get an idea stuck in my head, it tends to stay there, like a set-in grease stain. The car is a Camaro. It has a CD player, the interior is decent, the milage is 147K, which is 100K less than the car I'm driving now. It's the same shade of teal as S's Camaro, but nowhere near as crapped-out with rust. It has a moon roof, like the Camaro I was lusting after last year, and it's a five-speed. They're asking $1700, $300 down and make payments, which might actually be doable. I'd want a 3-day option to take it up to my mechanic, but that's not a bad price, even before negotiating.

The big question is, where am I going to get $300? Payments, how big and for how long? And how am I going to do that AND make my property taxes? [livejournal.com profile] ang5fam, I may end up selling half my earthly possessions on eBay!

I had an older Cadillac with a lot of miles- the check engine light came on and never went off- it was a sensor that was stuck and not worth fixing. We just took a match book cover and covered it up so as not to annoy me. :) If your oil, water and all fluid levels are good, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I've had cars like that too, and the wiring in this one has always been a little screwy. The first problem I ever had with the car was the rear-window brake light shorting out and running down the battery, and the speedometer sensor hasn't worked consistently in about a year.

I'm hoping the third time is the charm...having struck out with the two I was oogling last year. But yes, much stuff must be parted with!
