Today I heard back about the $50 gift card that I'm due for opening my bank accounts. It turns out that there is actually a choice between a Visa GC and GCs from various merchants. But!--I read the fine print: the Visa costs a minimum of $3.95. (ALWAYS read the fine print! If I had a printer, I would print the disclaimer so I could read the relevant parts to some of my callers.) Due upon purchase of card, blah, blah, blah...so it wouldn't really be $50.

However, the GCs ship free and don't show any additional charges associated with them. The only caveat is that the bit that says "Allow 3-4 weeks for receipt of your gift card"---meaning they're not going to work as Xmas presents, but may provide me with a bit of luxury in the New Year.

The question is, what kind? It can be split, so theoretically, I *could* get a stack of $5 Starbucks cards---except I don't drink coffee. I'm leaning toward cuisine and a bookstore. Looked at the fashions they offer and there are a couple of plus-size prospects, so I *could* go that way. Right now, I'm contemplating a three-way between Olive Garden, Barnes & Noble, and Fashion Bug. That's a nice, mellow day of lunch and shopping on Merritt Island. *happy sigh*

Got this today as a meme: Go to this website, find out what the #1 song was on your birthday and post it.

(Mine is "It's Now or Never" by Elvis Presley.)

Mine was Paul Anka's "Lonely Boy." The original emo song. *sighs*

Your choice of gift cards sounds wonderful. And by January, hon, some luxury would be very nice!

Yeah, I ended up going with those three: $15 at Olive Garden, $25 at Barnes & Noble and $10 at Fashion Bug. FB usually has decent prices, so I figure $10 off on an item will get me some ultra-affordable pants or a new frock. At Olive Garden, that will cover soup, salad and breadsticks AND dessert, and then I can sloth over to B&N and splurge on a hardcover...or a couple paperbacks, or 'zines or some combo of the above. Good times!

Ganked and posted. "There she was just a walking down the street..."

Hey, John, there's a cover suggestion for you. (Sorry, I'm still kind of pissed about the quality of Mr. Barrowman's song choices on his new album.)

Glad to oblige. And the end is in sight! What are you going to do next year as an oncore?

Not sure. Drabble a day? Or just hunker down and work on the Novel? If I'd put the same kind of effort into that as I did into this "project," I could have been done by now.
