I'm enjoying my vacation.
On Friday, I recycled a trunkful of cans, met with J and turned over two cartons of stuff, and really enjoyed having a Friday night off.
Saturday I lunched with GK and company. The quilt show excursion was vetoed by GK because her (censored) kids were sick and her (censored) husband "couldn't cope!" with them alone for more than two hours. We stopped at Target on the way home from Olive Garden---I got a pair of grey pants and a grey argyle sweater courtesy of GK.
The card party went well! We all had real fun and laughed a lot. It was strange to be greeted by only two schnauzers...I am so used to having to take turns scratch them, now I have one hand for each dog. Macs is much missed!
Sunday was the 50th anniversary of the founding of my church congregation, and that entailed a longer service than usual, followed by hamburgers, hot dogs and a potluck. Yummy! I took bean and corn salad (which is a can of two kinds of beans and a can of corn drained and combined with a can of diced tomatoes (mostly drained).
Returned home to find a GK "care package" hanging from my doorknob---a pink canvas tote bag with a flamingo print and three tops inside, one pink, one blue ombre and a print with pink flowers that I prompted pairs with some plum capris.
What with everything else going on, I STILL hadn't collected my paycheck, so I called
missybrat and asked what she was up to. Heard some shocking news, that a mutual friend of ours has had a stroke---and he's about twelve years younger than I am, very scary. We drove down to Melbourne, and as a thank you, I bought her dinner on the way back. This weekend was really good in terms of connecting with friends I've been out of touch with!
Kicked back, watched the Oscars, and did some Real Cooking in my kitchen---browned some ground beef and threw in the remains of the corn-bean salad. It's the first time I've bought beef in ages, but I got an amazing deal on ground sirloin at WalMart, $2.97 a pound---I couldn't pass that up! Anyway, while that was simmering, I nuked a bag of rice, dumped that into a Corningware casserole and topped it with the hamburger/bean salad, so I have several meals ready for a quick reheat when I'm ready. Go, me!
Today, I have to go to the bank to deposit my check so I can pay bills. And may have lunch with Kat, who's going to call me after she finishes getting blood drawn for tests. Not sure what GK is up to, but since she has Thing One and Thing Two in tow with all their germs, I'm not THAT anxious to hang out.
That's all (for now!), folks!
