It's never just ONE thing....

Today: Awakened by noise pollution. Work was mostly clueless people with complicated problems, though I *did* manage to place one sizable order that went through, yay me!

I couldn't get out of there fast enough, but it's rather a pity that I wasn't a minute or two later---then I would've missed being pulled over by the cop. (He caught me doing a rolling stop, and pulled me over a couple miles later after turning around and following me.) I knew it was coming when I saw him turn around...*I* know I'm a normal, law-abiding citizen, but the "Drive it like you stole it" bumper sticker may give the wrong impression. Anyway, I told him I work second shift in Melbourne, on my way home, avoiding the construction on US1, no, I haven't had any alcohol---yes sir, no sir, I'm really sorry about that, I *did* look both ways...he said my driving record was good and gave me a warning, not a ticket.

Luckily, I'm a conservative driver AND I saw he was back there, because my speedometer hasn't worked consistantly for about a year and a half. I just took it really easy and held my breath---and turned off the CD player before he turned on his lights, because blasting A/C-D/C probably wouldn't've helped my case either.

I'm gonna go watch Royal Pains and see if it's as good as last week.

I got nailed for the rolling stop -- having done it right in front of the dark car that turned out to be a state trooper. That was $160. Glad you just got the warning!

I kiss ass so much at work that I don't even have to think about it any more. Just kinda sat there, doing my best to look like an unthreatening middle-aged woman with nothing to hide. Which I am, but my youth was mis-spent enough that I'm still a wee bit paranoid.

I used to date a cop, so I tend to offer a pleasant and usually contrite manner. I've only been pulled over twice, and both times I deserved it (though I was more honestly contrite this last time, because the cop wasn't such a dick about it).

This one wasn't a dick...in fact, he was about my age and not bad looking---but I didn't think hitting on him was *quite* appropriate---liable to cause more problems than it would solve!

Kudos on not getting a ticket! My son-in-law got a ticket recently and it was a doozey! The cop WAS a total dick as he was driving my daughter and newborn granddaughter home from the hospital in the pouring rain and the sign was hidden--luckily, daughter had a friend in the PD and she got it wiped out. Imagine, a new mother and father, newborn baby ,etc and giving them a ticket! My daughter was crying and he was STILL an asshat. IRRRR!!
