Did not sleep well last night---found myself waking at oh-dark-thirty to void my bladder, then instead of going directly back to bed, I slithered into a cold shower for a couple minutes. Since I'd taken a muscle relaxer before bed, it took less time than one might expect for me to fall back to sleep after that, although I was still restless. Fucking heat and humidity....

Did the usual Monday lunch with Kat. Afterward, I *finally* got to christen my new swimsuit. Annoying business that I did not expect from suit---flotation of skirt and middy panel---but what the heck, it's still more comfortable than my old one which was a one-piece-perpetual-wedgie. I had the pool to myself the whole time, which was awesome.

Went by WinnDixie for a couple of things, came home, had dinner, went to CUUPs. We watched a documentary on Maria Giambutas, which was fascinating. She was a Lithuanian-born archaeologist who linked folklore of the region to finds of various sites.

This evening, I need to get prepared to be gone for a week and a half. Yeah, I might stop by on Sunday after church, but that's if I don't skip it...there's something about house-sitting that tends to make me apathetic about pursuing anything optional outside a certain radius. Meaning I need sufficient clothes for...six work days---although some ensembles may be recycled toward the end of the era---plus a couple more outfits for schlepping around in and going back and forth between Casa C and Schnauzerland. And other essentials, like a few books, muscle relaxers, PBOD, etc.

Was that a rumble of thunder I heard?! If so, my next post may be made after being bailed out for public indecency---IE dancing nekkid in the rain.

I made it to church with the Presbyterians on Sunday. The sermon on social justice was truly great, but the news about how the economy and the war are affecting so many of our families left us all with heavy hearts.

The boy and I spent a great deal of the morning trekking around in the heat and humidity while getting him registered for his college classes. I had a dentist appointment this afternoon (developed an abscessed gum over the weekend, probably from getting a piece of flax seed stuck under it) and proceeded to run from Hell and gone all over town afterward seeing my Mom, stopping at the pharmacy for meds, and picking up a few groceries. It did start to rain during all this, but stopped after a few minutes. I'd just about join you in that nekkid rain dance if it would help! :)

How's your back doing?

Eeek, there is no such thing as a 'good' abcess. I hope that clears up real quick!

Didn't do a nekkid rain dance, but I had my own one-woman wet tee shirt contest. Got thoroughly soaked and cooled off and the temp has gone down a few degrees.

The problem the PA diagnosed was a major muscle spasm on my left shoulder (with the right side spasming from trying to pick up the slack). The cortisone helped...I've been sparing with the muscle relaxers, since I found out very quickly that they knock me on my ass. I'd say it's about 70% better than it was. The swimming helped, I think---being stretchy but not load-bearing.

I'm glad you're feeling much better. When that muscle spasm thing starts happening, it's best to start treating it right away. I wound up having weeks of expensive physical therapy twice because I tried to just tough it out. One of the realities of middle age is stuff no longer goes away if you ignore it. :(

My dentist does not work Fridays or on the weekend, so I suffered through Thursday evening to Monday afternoon with the abscess. It's nowhere near as bad as an abscessed tooth but it's not pleasant. I'm hoping these horse pill antibiotics kick in soon, too.

I'm going to see if I can arrange to go swimming more often. It's the only exercise I can think of that I actually like to do.

Yeah...much as it goes against my nature, I'm going to have to get checked over more often. I have enough bad stuff in my family history (mother and brother both died in their 50s) that I need to start being vigilant.

I love to swim and really think that's what's keeping my body flexible. I like a brisk walk when it's not too hot (and need to replace my walking shoes so I can get back into that in the fall), but I really hate other kinds of exercise and sports. I joke that I'm Irish and the only place we run to is the pub. :)

I'd love to swim but had to cancel my Y membership due to funds (or lack there of) Walking is good but in this heat, you have to wait until 9 pm OR get up at the butt crack of dawn (not my forte)
I've GOT to do something!!
Hope you feel better and enjoy the A/C in the various homes you are looking after. I did send you my Avon site link if you should need anything-- let me know!

How much does membership at the Y cost, just out of morbid curiousity? My problem is, because of my outstanding student loans, I'm afraid of trying to do anything at BCC.

I'll look at the Avon site, but can't promise anything. Too many other needs, like a new window A/C!

I wasn't expecting you to spend much $ but they do have good clearance booklets (should be on the page I sent) where you can get good stuff cheap , when monies allow!
