Work yesterday was chock full of time-wasting idjits; I got calls back-to-back for about seven hours, with enough stoopid peeple to thoroughly fuck up my handle time. Although I *did* find out that I had the highest number of units per sale in our group last week. Told Current Boss that my handle time may suck but clearly I *do* pull my own weight in other ways.

I'm looking around trying to figure out what to take for the week (I hate running back and forth; I tend to get situated and Stay There, which is kinda the story of my life, I HATE change.) and making a note that the C's have that WalMart right up the road and I think I can manage to part with enough lucre for The Watchmen.

I am cursed with the need to do good deeds, apparently: One of my coworkers needed/wanted day-after-tomorrow Sunday off---her son is being dedicated at church---and I agreed to take it for her. Cause something like that? Is a special event, and she ought to be able to rejoice in it instead of having to worry about cutting it short to make it to work to deal with idjits. It's only a 4 hour shift and I can definitely use the money, plus it's during the afternoon, so I'm not going to be half-asleep in either direction.

And now to get my ass in gear and go dump things at the C's....

Well, this good deed involves you making a little cash too, so that's nice.

I found this the other day. Here, rest your eyes upon the splendor of JDM:

I love that picture. Partly because, damn, so FEW men seem to grasp the concept of accessorizing so well. But mostly for his very pretty eyes. I wouldn't say puppy-dog eyes...more like a soulful old hound dog who's about to start moaning and howling. (I know just where to scratch to make him happy....)

I think the photographer was brilliant for thinking up that pose. JDM has beautiful eyes, but people most often remark in interviews on his smile. This pose shows off his eyes, those broad shoulders and trim waist, and makes an asset of his arms. (In truth, his arms are too long for his body, but folding them takes care of that.) And the diagonal element keeps it from being a static portrait.

This is going to sound peculiar, but one of the things that turns me on about Jeff is that he's built like my dad, who was long in the torso compared to the length of his legs. My daddy, who was about 5'11", once remarked that if his legs had grown in proportion to the rest of him, he'd've been about 6'8"....

Your analysis of photographic elements startled me, as did your mention the other day about studying portraiture. Here we've been keeping steady company for some three years now, and there are still unexplored depths! (This is *not* a bad thing.)

I minored in journalism in college, and a series of photography classes was part of the study. We learned how to do all kinds of neat stuff along with the nuts and bolts of photography. I loved the classes. I don't think of myself as a visually creative person (my husband, the son of an artist, has a much better sense of color and spatial arrangement than I do), but taking good and interesting photos was something I could do pretty well.

My dad was an amateur photographer, to the extent of having his own darkroom and developing his own prints. Alas, he got out of it before I was born, so I inherited about 600 pictures of my brother growing up and maybe 30 birthday-vacation-holiday pix in which I'm incidentally in the shot. But I'm not jealous, no...
