Some anonymous joker over at [livejournal.com profile] yuletide needs to lighten up and maybe cut back on the caffeine. Okay, so maybe Leverage isn't technically a rare fandom anymore. Geez! Can I interest you in some Secondhand Lions?! Yes, I am going to participate again this year! Last year was a blast, up to and including my last-minute stocking stuffer.

Woohoo! [livejournal.com profile] crack_impala has recced A Feast for Two at the Turquoise Dragon. Apparently there are A LOT of fangirls who want to read Sam and Castiel interacting over Chinese food---who knew?! (It just makes the reaction---or lack thereof! to Iron and Faith all the more discouraging. That one was EPIC, darn it!)

This afternoon I got my assignment for the Crossover Exchange, and *that* has me grinning and licking my lips. I volunteered to write in any two of five fandoms (and gave them eight fandoms of my choice to write for). My recipient has six requests, three of which I volunteered, another that I HAVE written in but didn't volunteer, and the remaining two are fandoms I know only from a distance. The minimum length is ONLY 1500 words, which for me---hell, my post about the wedding weekend was longer than that!

The three requests I matched? Are ALL fandoms I requested, too. Shazam! I've already been thinking about scenarios. My recipient doesn't ask for any pairings that make me queasy---some of them are triggering my smirk---there are a few possibilities among their prompts...the *only* thing that marginally annoys me is that he/she has vetoed a specific genre I'm good at---but I'm sure I can find other options.

My fic for COME AS YOU'RE NOT: 2009 is done already, giving me even more of my ample free time to spend on the exchange fic.... This is going to be fun. Yes, it is.

Of course, if I wanted to be REALLY crazy/masochistic, I'd take on NaNoWriMo too---but I don't think I'm *quite* that manic.

Whoa, you got a boatload of new readers off that rec. Yah!

Iron and Faith is wonderful storytelling and it puzzles me to no end that it got so little response. But then the only comments I got on your birthday fic, which I thought was a pretty snappy little spy tale, were from you and Karaokegal, so who knows anymore?

Back away from the NaNoWriMo, girl. I've seen way too many people ruin a perfectly good month for themselves taking that bad boy on. :)

The rec definitely turned the heat back up on something that was cooling off. What was really interesting was, 95% of the commenters are NOT the usual suspects. (There are 10-12 regular commenters to my SPN fic on the whole, and these were mainly OTHER.) Sweet.

Iron and Faith...I don't know if it was the timing of the post, the summary, or what, but it received equally little fanfare over at the Pit of Voles, so it was nothing if not consistant.

Kgal and I both have a Jools fetish, but I think that's a fairly select kink. Unless you scream "Jools Siviter = Hugh Laurie" in great big bold caps, a lot of readers are gonna shrug and scroll on by. Idjits.

No, No, NaNo? They DO say the total word count is more important then whether it's a novel or a bunch of short stories, 100% original or 100% fanfic. And unless I manage to land a job in the next couple of weeks, I have the time. Well, except for the obligatory job hunt and doctor visits with Kat and the class I have afternoons during the second week of the month.... And according to a quick tally of my previous crossovers, the *average* length is about 12,000 words. Hmm. Maybe, maybe not.

YAY YOU! I know last year was an emotional roller-coaster, but I'm going on the ride again as well.

And I'm very squeeee-ful that your Come As You're Not Fic is done. :)

I originally had a very grand idea for CAYN, but I couldn't work up enough enthusiasm to actually sit down and write it. And then up jumped a plot bunny in the same (new, for me) fandom, and I got it out of my system---it's schmoopy to the point of being maudlin (again, for me). Now all I have to do is sit on it and not yield to the temptation to post that sucker RIGHT NOW.

In my best Axl Rose:
Said woman take it slow
It'll work itself out fine
All we need is just a little patience.

Axl Rose! Hot damn! I remember when he was a total sex god...but that 20-something metabolism doesn't last forever, alas, and now he's a schlub like the rest of us....
