I was browsing the Coke Rewards site, thinking of spending some points, when I ran across a "Coca-Cola Vintage Style Watch in Collectable Tin Case". Okay, it was pricey, but within my means. I clicked on it and was treated to the following copy: "Always having to fish out your cell phone to look at the time? Now simply glance at your wrist and read your collectible Coca-Cola® watch!"

As one of the twenty or so people in North America who doesn't HAVE a cell phone*, I found this hilarious. (I have a pocket watch on a chain clipped to my wristlet.) I shouldn't be so surprised---when we were baking cookies, J used her cell phone's timer to alert us to when batches were done---but once again, I'm being poked by the sharp stick of technological inadequacy. It also bugs me to think that something as common as a wristwatch is suddenly "quaint". That's what it boils down to, isn't it?

My hubby is a little technologically challenged- he decided it was time for a new cell phone and said "Maybe I'll get one of those new Blueberries." Bless his heart!

That's a really cute watch. I do have a cell, but it's a Tracfone and I last used it in May. Wouldn't use it to check the time because it's always at the bottom of my handbag. :)

I figure it's a cute watch, but not THAT cute. I keep hearing about Tracfones, but darn it! If I get a cell phone, I want one with a camera, so I can get a double-helping of technology in one fell swoop.

I have one with a camera and I've used it once in a year.I only have the phone for emergencies and free long distance. The only people that call me are my children and husband, typically.
I'd cancel it in a heartbeat but if you cancel before the contract is up, they charge a hefty sum.

Yeah, but I'm a camera nut. I used to carry a disposable camera around in my bag with me to take pix of random stuff that caught my attention---great cars, crazy signs, my friends being playful---it just got too pricey to develop the film. I'd probably use the camera more than the phone, which would be in lieu of pay phones for important calls while out and about.

I sent you an email with this LINK last week, but never got a response. Now I'm thinking you must not have gotten it.

This is a FREE cell phone with FREE minutes. I got one for my mother.

Sorry, I meant to get back with you about that. I have about three email addys for you and wasn't sure about that one. Seeing as it's legit, I'll give it a whirl.

Didn't mean to hound ya - I just wanted to make sure the email didn't get lost in the junk mail folder or whatever. And I do have several email addresses. Can't remember which one I sent it from, but they all usually have my first name as the sender. ;-)

Yep, it's legit. I saw a commercial on TV and checked into it, then qualified (due to being a single parent with a kid on reduced lunch at school). Since I already have a cell phone thru Verizon, I passed it along to my mom for emergencies. It's perfect for her. She gets 68 minutes a month (more can be added, if need-be) and there's absolutely NO charge to her (or me) whatsoever.
