It never rains, but it pours....
Feb. 23rd, 2010 04:30 pmOriginally, my plans for this evening called for me going to dinner with J as part of the semi-annual BDTC business meeting. Boring as hell, but free dinner, mmm nomnomnom.
Then StormValkyrie suggest we form a writer's group/book club and asked what nights were good. I suggested Tuesdays, because on the whole, they're dull with nothing going on, so OF COURSE she picked *tonight* as the inaugural meeting.
As if that wasn't enough of a boggle on my usually blank social calendar, GK said yesterday that if there was time, she'd come over tonight and help me make room for my newest acquisitions. Wah! I was utterly overcome by the influx of unique opportunities.
After much soul-searching, I arrived at a resolution that I can live with: I've told J I can't make the dinner this time. Much as I enjoy a good meal, there will be other dinners. GK is going to be running around for a while and then having her own dinner, so I proposed calling her when I get back from the writer's group, I figure that'll be 8-ish, and IF she's up to it, we can spend 2-3 hours plowing through the living room.
I'm quite excited about the writer's group; I *know* I have (at least one) real novel in me, and while I have other writers on my f'list, I'd like to get some face-to-face input as well. I've been turning the idea over and over in my mind, like a woodcarver trying to decide how to excavate the shape in my mind's eye from the block of wood I've been given, and the more I look at it, the more I long to create the finished product.
Onward---!
