Last night I was in very bad headspace. Took a muscle relaxer and two ibuprofen before I turned out the light and slept for six solid hours. Got up to answer a demand from my kidneys ("Make room! Make room!"), then went back to bed and zonked for another two and a half hours. Must be the time change catching up to me....

Just before I woke, I had a series of dreams...driving in moderately heavy traffic with a woman who was a very aggressive driver and scared the snot out of me...then having dinner around a big table with a bunch of people, including Doc, and someone handed me a catalogue of made-up joke products...after the dinner party, I was at Kat's. This wasn't her trailer, or any of the houses where she lived, but it was her place. She came in and said good morning, and I asked if all her relatives had gone back to Texas or wherever. She said they'd left early that morning, thank goodness, because she was tired of tripping over a houseful of people. I said I'd leave if she wanted to have the place to herself, but she said no, she was glad to see me. She wasn't sick, she was alert and energetic.

Either my subconscious is trying to console me, or I'm channeling ala Crossing Over...either way, it was reassuring. I miss her constantly.

I'm also cheered to hear that Trauma (NBC, 9 PM Mondays) is going to be around for another ten episodes. Kevin Tighe is going to be guest-starring in a couple weeks! The show runners have made no secret of the fact that Trauma is a direct reimagining of that 70s favorite, Emergency. That was another "Saturday nights of my childhood" show, so this has me cackling happily. Ten more weeks of Cliff Curtis makes me happy! Who knows, if enough of you lovely folks tune in, we might even get a second season!

Tomorrow is St Patrick's Day---I must remember to include green in tomorrow's ensemble.

On Monday's at 9 pm, I watch "American Pickers" on the History Channel. Cool finds. I have also gotten stuck on "Pawn Stars" immediately following at 10 pm on same channel.
Tonight is a new NCIS and then at 10 pm, "Southland" on TNT. We watched a marathon and got caught up on it- great show- sort of a cross between the old "Hill Street Blues" and "The Shield." I guess it was on NBC and they dropped it so TNT picked it up.
Can't wait until "Madmen" comes back on AMC this summer. That is another great show- lots of 60's clothing, furniture, hairdos, etc.

I adore American Pickers! I was really surprised that they overpaid for the old car they bought last week. Not that I have $5500, but if I did, I'd buy it at that price. But then, I'm crazy. 'Pickers is shown twice more on Monday/Tuesday...if you check the schedule, there's another showing at 11 or 12, and one around 2 or 3 AM. You can always tape or DVR it if you have the box. (I'm really hoping to work up more interest in Trauma.)

Sadly, I don't have the box. Cable bill is high enough with standard cable and the internet. I can barely stay awake until 10 pm so I doubt I'd catch the repeats.
I am not sure I can commit to another show right now! ha ha I also feel like I am over hospital shows for the meantime. Sort of got burned out after ER- tried Grey's Anatomy for a bit but it didn't capture my attention.
Anyhoo- have a good week!

I'd like to think your dream was Kat's way of saying she's doing great (which she is, of course). *warm fuzzies*

What a great dream. I'm happy your subconscious is smarter than mine (which is still unable to picture my mum healthy and without her dementia ). I like it that it was Kat's place alright even though you didn't know it. There is so much comfort in that.

Kat's dementia was of fairly gradual onset. At first it was repeating herself a lot, which I thought came from living with her mother, who also has dementia---she's in her 90s---then persistant aphasia and forgetfulness. She chalked it up to the chemo, which apparently can also play tricks. This happened over the course of the last two-three years, then last spring, she had an MRI done, and mild dementia was diagnosed. The neurologist prescribed a patch to help with it...Kat kept up with it for a couple months, then gave up on it. That was when I knew it was over, that she'd stopped fighting; and sure enough, her mental state and her physical state went downhill from there. It was only the last nine months or so that it was really bad---that was heart-breaking enough.

I'm sorry about your mom, too. I hope you can heal enough to remember the happy times before her illness.
