Went out into the garage with a recently-purchased vat of laundry detergent. Frowned at all the stuff underfoot, and was moved to accomplish a load of laundry...I have two sweatshirt-weight lounging gowns, which turned up amid the overflow. It would've been nice to have them in January. Set aside a few items to pass along to J, and in the process, rediscovered yet another skirt that sank into obscurity in a pile. *sigh* That's the second one this week.

I've come to the decision that something has to be done. I want to build a free-standing clothing rack. (T made one for S, they're dead easy.) I need a set of saw-horse brackets, two 2"x4"x12' studs cut in half and a length of pipe to go between the resulting inverted V's. I've got a $25 prepaid credit card, and that's enough, according to HomeDepot(dot)com.

I may probably should need to thin out my wardrobe in general, but how can I when I don't know what's where?! If I could just get everything put up where I could see it all and figure out what will go with X, and how many of Y do I have, and does Z fit/ever have a prayer of fitting, and if so, would I actually wear it?

I need to do the same thing- when the week-end rolls around and my choices are cleaning out the closet and doing something, anything else, I pick the latter. I HATE cleaning out closets! I bet I have stuff in there I haven't worn since my youngest was a child and she's 25. On the other hand, I do have some quality clothing that has held up for nearly 21 years- a denim shirt from Banana Republic as well as a light weight white top from Casual Corner. Sometimes, you really DO get what you pay for as the aforementioned items were pricey at the time.

I can only think of one item from that far bac that still fits, and I don't wear it much as it's getting a bit ragged. But yeah, you pay more for quality.

That is definitely a huge step in the right direction. So often when you talk about organizing the bedroom or laundry room, you mention heaps of clothes. Hang it up, cull it down, keep only the fabulous. *waves pompoms for Fluffy*

The worst offender is the cedar chest in my bedroom. Piles galore! In the sliding tile puzzle that is my home, I figure if I can get it cleared off down to bare wood, I can move it elsewhere in the house and put my TV on that wall, where it'll have more clearance. I won't be piling clothes on top of that!
