Teh shiny

Chipping away at it...have been focusing on my bedroom, because I really want to have one space that doesn't get on my nerves. It's quite a bit better than it was, and I'm finding a lot of things that have been MIA.

Yesterday, I did indeed take the day off, including an afternoon/evening nap that had me up til an late-even-for-me 4AM...since it was technically no longer Sunday, I worked on the space under my bedside table. (The tabletop was done last week so I could park some stackable wicker drawers on it.) And looking around, I realized that on a scale from "condemned" to "ready for a visit from Martha Stewart", it's not horrible. Not wonderful---there are still several cartons of books stacked in a corner and the closet is less than accessible---but compared to 6-8 months ago, it *is* better.

Happily, I hit the *other* mother lode of shiny...finding Dad's Gulf pins the other day was one load off my mind---today I ran across MY shiny. Rings, pins, bracelets, earrings, etc., mostly silver and some sentimental costume stuff, that I've been collecting since 9th grade. At some point during one of the hurricanes, I'd bagged it all up in ziplock baggies for portability, and it never got sorted out or put back into a designated "jewelry box".

One thing that I always worry about when it comes to that is, if it's all too well-organized, what if I got burgled? They'd be able to find it! Of course, the fact that *I* can't always find it is something of a drawback....

Also heard from Mb---we both took extended Sunday naps and didn't hook up yesterday, but tomorrow she has a pleasant activity scheduled for us---she's going to kidnap me, take me up to her place, and I'm going to benefit from her winnowing out surplus in her freezer and pantry. Which means I need to spend some time going through my own freezer and seeing what's beyond the pale. I think there are a few pot pies in there from 2007....

You did. It's not crafted, but I probably will part with some of it; either it isn't my style any more or, in the case of some of the rings and bracelets, doesn't fit. (What's sterling silver going for these days...?)

will give you the latest price for sterling.

Yah! for the continued emergence of your bedroom, and for freezer bounty shared. :)

I actually went and looked it up after that last post. I'm thinking if I purge enough of it, I could get caught up on my bills. The only thing really outstanding is the cable bill, but that's the biggest bill I have---phone-net-cable---and I've been a month behind for a year BEFORE I got laid off. (Was out of work for a solid week because of TS Faye and then the day I was supposed to return, had a pricey clutch problem with my PoS...just never got caught up.) It would be nice not to live in fear of payment arrangements and disconnection.

I have a bad habit of things going into my freezer and not coming out until they're fossilized...there WERE pot pies. 2008 instead of 2007, but still---!

That's a great plan. I sold the sterling silverware my mother-in-law left me, and it kept us afloat after the tree fell through the house last Palm Sunday and we got hit with a massive bill for the boy's oral surgery.

If a burglar broke into my house looking for jewelry, he'd leave shaking his head and laughing!

No need to be sorry! I am not and never have been a jewelry aficionado. I rarely even wear my wedding set. Just not into it--would rather spend money on other things.
Good luck selling--like I said, we've had good luck with Craig's List. Sold the boat yesterday. Got a little less than it's worth but it's a bird in the hand.

Speaking of food- I thought of you last night as Publix was giving out samples of delicious baked ham and fluffy mashed potatoes- I remember you saying that was one of your favorite holiday meals.
The sample convinced me to make that for Easter dinner- it was so delicious. I love those sample ladies - especially after work when I am starving! I think I am going to make some strawberry shortcake as well with REAL whipped cream.

I do like a good ham. Or a nice brisket. Or some lovely lamb chops, salmon, roast beef---what can I say, I'm a carnavore!

Thanks to Mb, my freezer is crammed with yummy things. No ham, but there are pork chops, and I may bake them with some carrots and stuffing---or dressing as it would properly be considered---I'm set for quite a while!
