I'm sitting here in countdown mood with a sick feeling of dread in my stomach. Why is that? SPN is my favorite show, this is supposed to be my happy place. So what's wrong?

Kripke.

Thanks to him, I can't even escape to my escapist fantasy any more. I have enough shit landing on me in real life without an on-going angst fest in prime time...particularly since I'm pretty sure it's about to go from bad to horrible in the next ninety minutes. Swell.

And God as my witness, I *WILL BAN the first person who says, "It's only a TV show.".

I've had the same feeling of dread about the 100th show all season. I hate that the boys are not allowed to have any happy moments any more

I know, right? Disaster, followed by heartache and riddled with uncertainty. And it's getting really old.

Will you ban the first person who says they loved it? Cuz I loved it!

I didn't hate it. There were a few moments that made me snicker and a few when I cheered out loud and NONE that brought me to tears, which these days makes it an unqualified success.

It's never "only a tv show." We don't get emotionally invested in "just tv shows." Is that the difference between people with a fannish mindset and those without, do you suppose? Of course I'm not invested in every show I watch casually, but my fandoms - like yours, I'm assuming - are never "only a tv show."

*nods* The funny thing is, I don't consider to be a hardcore fan, in the sense of, I'm not subscribed to every newsletter and community, I don't hunt for spoilers, but I don't go screaming OH SHIT YOU ruined MY VIEWING EXPERIENCE!!! because somebody mentions something about a preview. I don't follow the personal lives of Jared and Jensen other than what I see others blog about. Jared married Gen Cortese? Cool, I think they made a cute couple. Hey, IRL, I'll probably never meet the guy, and if I do, I seriously doubt he's gonna try to sweep my fat ass off my feet. Yes, the boys are scenic, the writing is usually pretty good and it's been my Thursday night date for a long time---but I'm not THAT rabid. In that sense, yeah, it's just a tv show. But I love my pretty boys and I've been tuning in devoutly for a long time, so no, it's not....

Exactly! I don't do those things either but I still feel emotionally invested in some shows (Star Trek, DueSouth, Xena, to name a few), so I understand where you're coming from.

(PS - love that icon!)
