I signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen fiction exchange out of giddy optimism from posting two fics in a week. Today there was a post saying assignments will be going out soon, and lamenting that "a small number of signups were very restrictive in the type of fiction they were willing to offer. Indeed, one signup was so specific the only prompts that matched perfectly were her own."

At which point I inhaled sharply and went through the requests post again---I'm pretty sure it's not me! Looking through all the prompts, there were some ideas that I wouldn't mind taking a shot at---not to mention the half-dozen times I wanted to pimp a link to something I've already written that fits the prompt. Quite a few posts had me bouncing up and down going, "Oooh! Oooh! I hope I get YOU!", while others were more along the lines of, "Oh please, anything but that!"

It's a nice, broad fandom, though. I may not be able to understand the people who veto characters A, B or C---I've written all of them, thanks---or certain scenarios, there are sure to be an equal number of people out there reading my suggestions going, "She wants WHO?! Doing WHAT?! What a fruitcake!"

I don't know what it is about exchanges, but they've gotten some good stories out of me. Maybe it's the certainty of knowing that there's SOMEONE out there who wants to read whatever it is. (A lot of my prompts are ideas I love but will probably never sit down and write for myself.) I tend to be more hyped about what I'm writing than what I'm going to get, so if the person who gets assigned me is reading this, NO PRESSURE.

Although I *really* should have specified NO ZOMBIES.

Name: Vanillafluffy

I am offering: Fic
Genres I prefer to write: action, AU, casefic, character-driven, cars, happy endings, humor, hurt-comfort, "minor" characters and OCs, mystery, pre- or post-series, resurrections, sci-fi, slice of life, spirituality, westerns. And I generally write present tense.
Any characters I prefer not to write: Adam, angels other than Gabriel, Anna, Cassie, Ghostfacers, Gordon, Jessica, Lilith, Mary, Meg
Art/Vids I can offer: Not my thing, sorry!
Any crossovers I am willing to create for: American Gods, Dark Angel, Justified (Sadly, I don't think anyone requested Justified. That has some cool potential.)

My requests: Fic
Three to six prompts:
1. [Fic] The Winchesters in a wild west setting, ie, John is the sheriff, Dean is his deputy, Sam recently returned from a fancy Eastern school and is the odd man out, The Roadhouse is a saloon, Bobby is the local blacksmith, etc. Can include supernatural goings-on or a generic western is cool, too. (Details not carved in stone, just a starting point.)
2. [Fic] Bobby! I love Bobby like Dean loves pie. Him telling the boys about a hunt that relates to something they're working, or how he and Pamela first connected, or his experience(s) with Bela, that case he was on in the Dominican or maybe that old fight he had with John (bearing in mind that we've now seen him point a gun at the boys, too). Emphasis on his craftiness, wisdom and shoot-from-the-hip sense of humor.
3. [Fic] Ellen and Bill as a young couple who've just bought The Roadhouse---which is haunted. How they got into the hunting life. Extra points for Jo being a bouncy tomboy and having a happy childhood. (Just a note, I picture Bill played by James Remar.)
4. [Fic] Gabriel as the Trickster, working backstage at a theater and working his own twisted version of tough love on a melodramatic diva who's causing trouble on the set of "My Fair Lady" (or similar musical comedy) Could be at the college from "Tall Tales", he said he'd been there for six years. Svengali, anyone?
5. {Fic] Martin (from "Sam Interrupted") was massively traumatized by a hunt in Albequerque---what happened? John, Bobby, Pastor Jim, Bill Harvelle and maybe Deacon (or any combintion of them) telling the story and/or getting revenge on the perpetrator/creature.
6. [Fic] John's storage unit fascinates me, and it's barely been mentioned. Could be about John dropping something off, something trying to get in or out, getting Bobby to make a hex box for him---what's in all those boxes?!, how Bela found out about the place, Sam and/or Dean going there for some reason and finding something unexpected.

Scenarios and stories I would rather not receive: NO: JOHN BASHING, character bashing, death fic, whumpage to the point of permanent impairment---including the Impala, bad guys/demons/monsters etc getting away with doing bad things, unhappily resolved angst (nothing against angst with a happy ending, but I have enough of the other kind IRL, thanks), fluffy-schmoopy-woobieness and curtain fics. OOC behavior that's not related to possession or the like, drug or alcohol abuse, See above, characters I prefer not to write.
And NO zombies---I’ve spent too much time working in customer service,---I really dislike zombies.

Hehe. *puts her hand up* Me too. My reaction was exactly the same as yours. :)
And yeah, I read through all the assignments as well, um, pretty much with the same outcome you had. Oh, yes and oh noes were coming and going... yours being one of the 'oh hell yes' kind btw, as in there's a bunch of prompts I'd like to sink my teeth into.
And just fyi, I contemplated asking for a Justified crossover, but I was already asking for an In Plain Sight crossover, which I'm not so sure I still want more than I'd love to read one with Justified... but I was longing for more female characters in Spnfics, so... oh well. Actually it doesn't matter as I'm really crossing my fingers for my prompt asking for fic featuring Bobby and Olivia hunting together.

I'm really excited, though honestly I'm a little afraid too, because I'm definitely lacking experience writing spnfic. At least my writing mojo's back again, otherwise I wouldn't have dared signing up.

And you know what? Your post gave me an idea. 'm putting up a post concerning the summergen too, just in case my assignee facepalms and despairs at my weird prompts...

So I wouldn't be shot on sight if I got yours and delivered a Justified crossover instead...? (I know nuthin' about In Plain Sight.)

The Bobby-Olivia prompt has potential, and I'm always happy to write John.

If, of course, they match us up....

That depends on how good that fic is... NAAA, Justified's more than fine. [In Plain Sight is not even that good of a show (though it has its moments), but there aren't much shows with a leading female on tv at the mo, so... *shrugs*]

I've got a John prompt too! John is always fab *g*

Well, that would be awesome! :)

I started out as a John!girl (I keep meaning to resurrect him!), but the boys grew on me. I find Dean easier to write than Sam, but I can go either way.

At first, I thought Bobby was a curmudgeon, but the more I see of him, the more I love him. And I worship Jim Beaver, the man's got fierce talent.

Have no fear, writing strong women is something I have experience at! (Being one, not as much as I'd like. That fic you posted the other day? KILLED ME.)

I guess, I started out as boys!girl, made a quick stint into Dean!girl territory and now I don't know. It varies daily, sometimes I'm more of a John!girl (especially because show is seriously lacking John) and sometimes I wanna read some boys. Actually I love all Winchesters. - And Bobby. Who wouldn't love Bobby? What kind of fruitcake would that be?
And about the writing. My guess is that my Sam voice is probably better than my Dean!voice... and that for some reason it's probably easier for me to write John, Bobby or a minor character than one of the boys

Which, the JDM/Jensen one?

Which, the JDM/Jensen one?

Uh-huh. It was beautifully written, but the whole terminal illness aspect is still a bit raw for me.

I've worked my way through writing all the Winchesters and Bobby as well as others...mostly a question of whose PoV I think works best. (I did one with Lisa's PoV over a year ago, long before they brought her back. Somewhat prescient!)

*facepalms* Duh, what a stupid question of me... as I didn't post anything else in over a year. I blame it on the sleep deprivation. *headdesks*
I totally forgot you even read rps (being it AU or not).
And when someone I know, especially if it's someone whom's writing rocks my socks, actually reads my fic, I get hit by surprise like whoa. There's this initial "What? She read my fic? Wow. Really. Wow. *bzuhh*
It's probably stupid, but I'm always pretty flustered everytime.

Yeah that aspect isn't exactly my speciality either. To be honest, as a reader I avoid those fics like the plague. I have no idea how this got into my head. I just know that I was very relieved when I finally pulled it out of there again. Still it was very interesting to work with all the contradicted emotions tangled in there.
Anyway thank you for reading it in spit of the sad topic. <3

Actually I can't think of any voice that wasn't spot on in your fics. Whatever you tried it was all great.

Just to let you off the hook, I didn't get you. Pity, I already had some tasty ideas that definitely won't recycle for the prompts I did get.

Meh. :/
But just so you know, you're always invited to write fics for me if the bunny bites... *g*

I still didn't receive my assignment e-mail. I've already given them two other mail-adresses and nothing works. I really don't know where the glitch is. The poor admin is sending out mails like crazy, because unfortunately I'm not the only one with the problem. Bugger.

The bunny is gnawing on me, but it's going to have to wait its turn. I have to conjure up This Other Thing first.

Good luck with your assignment!

No hurry. Whenever it suits you is just fine for me... and you know if not, no biggie. ;)

Thank you. Now if I would only get the damn thing...
