Office work

Today has been around 90F. Nevertheless, I have sustained efforts in my office and am pleased to report that I am now able to open two of the three windows in here, which renders it a fair bit less juicy. (I can stand most heat as long as there's good air movement.)

I have two bags of cans assembled for recycling thus far---I can probably get two more going from the rest of the house---which will assist the exchequer nicely.

Now if I can find a home for several hundred books, ditch another hundred 'zines, and a whole bunch of miscellaneous, it'll be a nice little office---at least until I can get the middle room excavated....

Cheerleading and fruit smoothies much appreciated....

Hurrah! So many cans! That's like finding money in a forgotten pocket, isn't it? Score.

Good on ya. Persistence is paying off!

It's like having a very bulky piggy bank. And cashing in is a little more complicated than shaking coins out onto the bed and dashing off to the store. But right now, it's gonna take care of a few essentials, so it's all good.

Your icon rocks!

*shakes pom-poms* GO, FLUFFY, GO!

It's a shame you don't have a cash-paying used book store to sell the books to. Store credit's nice, but grocery money is even nicer.

The kid has not been able to find any kind of job, so I got him into can recycling. He made $4.98 from the first Rubbermaid tub of them, and I put out a recycling bag in the office to collect more.

A cash-paying used bookstore?! I don't think I've EVER seen one of those around here. Things are so bad as far as used bookstores go that there's only one near me (which I rarely go to, since it's disorganized and doesn't take plastic)---the next closest one is beachside, a 20 mile drive, and they only take recent, like-new books. Of which I have a few, but---20 miles? Not sure it's worth it.

I'm blessed in that the church lets me have their cans, which reminds me, I'd better swing by there on my way to recycle....

I envy those bears. Right now I'd happily flop down into a snow bank!

I can assist with some cheerleading but no fruit smoothies!
My husband is now bribing me to get rid of drawers full of old bank statements....I haven't done so to date. I HATE doing stuff like that!

I hear that. One of the things I'm not looking forward to is sorting through the big white plastic laundry basket full of God Only Knows.

"'Fluffy! 'Fluffy she's our - " ahhh, never mind. I never was a cheerleader. :-) I'll make you virtual smoothies, though!

Yeah, it's too hot to get all worked up jumping around with pom-poms anyway. Something like a nice cold cantalope-mango smoothie, though, would really hit the spot.

It's nearly 10:30PM and it's still 87F. And it's barely June! *moans*

Eww. You have my sympathy - I really hate hot, humid weather, especially at night. It makes sleeping so difficult.

One cantalope-mange virtu-smoothie coming right up!

Of course I meant cantalope-mango. 'Cause a mange smoothie doesn't bear thinking about.

Same here. Anything over 75 degrees and I'm a puddle. It's been in the 80's and humid here in Ohio. UGH. I have no A/C, just fans. They're about as effective as turning a blow dryer on yourself.

I have a window A/C, but I haven't turned it on yet because I can't afford to double my electric bill. I think whoever canned the expression "sStewed in your own juices" must've been dealing with a Florida summer.

I'd really like to be a snowbird, and spend the summers elsewhere, but until I win the lottery, I'm not holding my breath!
