How can I be so tired when I haven't done anything? Answer: The heat. Even with the ceiling fan and the box fan blowing on me, I'm perpetually too warm. Two or three showers a day...doing a number on my water bill, and it's almost to the dreaded point of Doesn't it get any colder than this?!.

I'm trying to complete something for [livejournal.com profile] dayofindulgence. I started it during the writer's strike during season 3, when Dean's fate was up in the air. Clearly, this is a long way from what happened. But what the hell, I don't seem to have enough motivation to work on anything else, although I *have* been thinking about Boyd Crowder. This one is currently about 3,000 words and will probably double by the time it's done and it'll be one less thing languishing on my hard drive.

Other stuff I have in long-term parking:

Known and Unknown: Season 2 AU. Sequel to Seen and Unseen, Nancy McGill trying to resurrect John Winchester.
Gone Hunting: Season 4 AU. SPN/DeVour crossover. Sam tries to get Jake out of jail, meanwhile Dean has gone Darkside and escaped from Hell.
The Light of a Fading Star: Season 5 AU. Sam and Dean are trying to find Castiel and track a shooting star to a town where a naked man with no memory was found.

Yes, I have AU's for seasons 2-5! Woohoo! Collect the whole set!

I also have a DeVour/My Bloody Valentine crossover stalled on the tracks, and my post-nuke westrn ala Jericho.

Where's the telepathic typewriter when you need it...?

Would it help any to know that I *have* worked on it now that I've moved my WIP folder over from my old computer?

I guesss that means you'll volunteer to beta, huh?

Beta? Weeeell....I'll have to think about that. ;D

Try turning on the AC an hour before bedtime, and turn it off as you go to bed. That might help you to sleep, and shouldn't be too bad on your electric bill.

That's a thought...my A/C has a remote, and I *think* it has a sleep function, the kind of thing that would turn itself off after an hour. Note to self, must get AAA batteries....

Ooh, The Light of a Fading Star sounds marvelous!

I need one of those telepathic typewriters. Or voice recognition software so I can just talk and have stuff appear on the screen. :D

The trouble with TLoaFS is, I don't really know where it's going. The premise hit me, and I went "Oooh!" and started writing, but 3300 words in, it kind of ran out of gas.

The telepathis typewriter is straight out of Stephen King. Voice recognition...I tend to repeat myself, I'd go nuts editing.

One of his anthologies also had a story about a typewriter that could rewrite reality. And then there's this: http://www.usbtypewriter.com/

Ugh. Muggy heat like that completely drains me. Granted, we don't get it as bad as you do in Florida, but it's still sticky and nasty up here. I HATE it. My parents took pity and bought me a window A/C unit which cools the downstairs nicely - thank God - but yeah. I totally sympathize.

Here, have another fan!

I have a window unit, but I don't dare turn it on or my electric bill will double and I can barely pay my bills as it is. So yeah, multiple fans and cool showers and cold drinks.

The jury is still out on my electric bill. I just started using the A/C two weeks ago so I haven't gotten my first bill reflecting that, yet. I don't think mine will be too bad, though, for two reasons: 1) my city generates its own electricity because we have 2 waterfalls here, so our electric and water rates are really low, and 2) the A/C is brand new and energy efficient and all that shit, so I'm hoping it doesn't use all that much power.

As I recall for previous summers, it doubled my monthly bill, and that was with my old A/C which was caulked to a faretheewell. This one is held in place with duct tape and bubble gum. (Okay, just kidding about the bubble gum.)
