Remember I commented on the lack of career guidance? I wanted to be an architect, but reviewing the advanced math required, I sighed and looked through the catalog, stopping at Business Management. That only required Accounting and Statistics, how hard could that be? And "business" was everywhere. I imagined myself, with my degree, managing a store at the mall, or maybe a gift shop somewhere, arranging displays and ordering knicknacks.

No one told me that a two-year degree (A.S., not A.A.) was freaking useless in the real world. It was also boring as hell. Oh wait, it was hell. A minor level compared to St. Jerk's, to be sure, but I was underwhelmed and just went through the motions.

I remember taking archery class, and the big topic of conversation was the hostage crisis in Iran---they were saying that the hostages wouldn't be released until President Carter was out of office---more than a year away. I didn't believe that we'd let them get away with that, which just goes to show I'm not universally prescient.

I'm sure there was other stuff going on, but on the whole, it was so boring I'm not even going to bore you with it.

I remember the Iran hostage crisis. I'm still quite proud of Canada's part in getting those people home, and I will never forget the sight of all the yellow ribbons on old oak trees, that were all over the media.

Oh gosh, "Tie a Yellow Ribbon"! Good old Tony Orlando and Dawn...that particular song is another one that reminds me of that summer at fat camp, but yes, now that you mention it, I *do* remember the yellow ribbons everywhere during the hostage crisis.

I never had much use for College. I majored in Pub! Could tell you what was on tap for the coming weekend parties, in my sleep.

I vaguely remember the Iran Hostage Crisis. I guess I just wasn't paying to much attention to the media at that time.

And I do remember the Iran Hostage Crisis well, including all the yellow ribbons. I also remember the failed attempt to rescue them. *facepalm*

Well hello there 'hermit. Yeah, Fluffy allowed me in...probably out of pity. But I do enjoy the blog.

I guess I just wasn't paying attention because my Dad and I had a conversation about this and he asked me, "How the hell could you not remember the Iran Hostage Crisis?" *shrugs*
