Yestrday, I went to a dog event with J...which would have been nice, if she'd reminded me about it...oh, somewhere around Tuesday, so I could try to get my sleep cycle in synch. Ended up staying conscious (though not necessarily functional) for 26+ hours, which isn't something I can do easily any more.

A friend of hers was supposed to follow us down there and help set up. She showed up when we were 95% done; IMO she was freaking useless, but she did stick around for tear down, which was worse. By then, I was staggering around, semi-coherent and circumstantially austic. AND I got stung on the back of my left arm by a winged something at that point, which was just the cherry on the turd.

The event itself was pleasent enough; the weather was sunny and breezy---a bit too breezy, as it blew over the standds with the flyers several times---not too warm. Nice. There was a truck selling Italian ice---I got a cup of pomegrante, which was the only thing I had all day. We were visited by Jazz, the gorgeous platinum-blonde Akita who is Mb's SO's srevice dog. He and Mb were in tow, and chatted with J about the rights of service dogs to go whereever the general public can do. I'm always so happy when my friends get along---often it seems they like me but can't stand each other.

Drove home very carefully from J's and crashed into bed. Just got horizontal and slept for 6 solid hours, no dreams, not getting up to tinkle, nothing.

Got up, had the lunch I'd packed and not eaten for dinner. Made up a low-fat dip to take in for CUUPs potluck today. Read for a while and went back to bed and slept for another five hours.

In honor of the holiday, I wore a long black trumpet skirt I rediscovered in my closet the other day and a top I've had for several years. It's a two-fer---looks like a black top under a pleated black-and-copper jacket. As I said, I've had it for several years and I've loved it. But. I'm about 40 pounds less now than I was when I got it and instead of embracing my curves, it's droopy. And, being a poly-knit, isn't really the kind of thing one can take in. So I think this may have been its last hoorah. The skirt is going to be good for a while yet, though.

Oh, and speaking of sizes, Friday night I went over to WalMart and tried on jeans. (I don't currently own any that fit---they're all freaking huge and baggy and/or tapered.) The largest size they had was 26, and to my vast astonishment, no pun intended, I was actually able to get into them, button them and zip them up. Breathing was optional---I'm not saying they fit, but I *could* get into them. I think 28s would work---I'm going to have to visit Fashion Bug just to see....

We have a tradition at church called "Joys and Concerns", when we put a flower in a vase and, as the name implies, let our fellow congregants know what's on our mind, the theory being that shared joy is increased and shared sorrow is lessened. I shared my milestone, and got kudos. Just trying to make better choices, I said when they asked how. And who knows? Maybe it'll even carry over to other areas of my life.

a Happy Halloween to you

And to you, too, Donna. It's been quiet here, which I appreciate.

I love the Avenue! Alas, the nearest one is about 25 miles away and I very rarely get there. Nearest plus-size shop is Fashion Bug, about five miles away, and there's a Lane Bryant some ten miles off, and a few miles beyond that is a Catherine's. Torrid is most distant, though, they're over in Orlando, which is about 40 miles, but at least they're on the near side of O-town.

Most of the too-big jeans I've got were originally from The Avenue. They're great, lots of wear in them yet---for someone who's a size 32 tall.
