I dropped by my bank this afternoon to take care of a little business. The temp being in the low 60s, I wore a long-sleeved grey and black top with black pants, grey shoes and the grey cloche hat I posted a pic of on Tuesday (but with a different pin).

One of the tellers, who is familiar with me, complimented me on it. He said it showed style, and that I looked European.

I choose to accept that as a compliment, as all the Europeans I know are very nice.

That is definitely a compliment!

Methinks that teller bats for the other team, though. *wink*

Wouldn't be surprised....

ahaha that sounds so funny from over here, as if Europe is one big chic country or something :)

and that's another very nice hat! I had missed the photo. (And actually, and I hope I don't spoil the compliment now, it reminds me a little bit of good German loden hat.)

The teller in question is fairly young, I'd guess mid-20s, and I imagine to him, countries in Europe equate with states over here. Not that they do IRL, but to an untraveled young person---?

Now, see, I've always thought of "loden" as a dark green. Am I wrong?

Loden is just the fabric - some kind of felted/fulled wool with the grease still in, it's great waterproof stuff. It doesn't need to be "loden green", it's often grey, dark grey or even blue.

Ahh! Thanks for the clarification. This is a firm synthetic felt...I don't think any actual sheep were sheared in the making of my chapeau. Ersatz loden at best!
