Laundry is happening. A few crucial wardrobe staples were beyond the pale.

So is gift-wrapping. Happening, that is. Mostly in poinsettia-printed paper. I *thought* I had more of the red candle print, but if I do, I've no clue where it is.

The only thing in today's mail was the water bill. The good news is, it isn't due til January 11th.

J and I are playing it by ear---I'll probably get with her on my way to the C's tomorrow. Note to self, wrap her gift while doing the ones for tonight. It's one less thing to stress about tomorrow.

According to AO3, I have TWO gifts awaiting me---gift plus treat! Woohoo! I'm oh-so-curious: Will it be two Justified PWPs? Two of something else? A PWP and a something, or two completely different fandoms? I'm not sure when I'll be getting back from the party at B and A's, but when I do get home, I'll be powering up the 'puter first thing, believe me!

I lost a chunk of tooth last night; it's not visible, but I can feel the changed landscape and am freaking quietly. You know how some people marry for green cards? Sign of the times: I'd marry for decent insurance and dental...Tricare would be good. Tricare pays everything.

Two boxes to open in the A.M.---I love opening presents. Even when the gift itself is an anticlimax (fugly tchotchke, book I've already got, movie I have no desire to see with performer I detest*), I adore the opening process: Hold box. Compare size to weight ratio. Shake gently. Squeeze with care to see if outline is suggestive. Guess contents. Contemplate. Repeat once or twice before begining to peel back paper. I've been nagged about my glacial slowness in opening---"Just tear it open, already!"---but it's a rare enough treat that I like to savor it.

If Santa *does* bring me a pony, I probably won't be able to get it through the door til New Year's. The place really is an unholy mess.

Time to go check the stuff in the dryer.

Oh honey! So much sympathy for dental ickiness. Once you know there's something missing, it's impossible to keep from sending your tongue to investigate further.

Fingers crossed for Yuletide awesomeness. I know you've had an interesting history there. I LOVE my fic so much, I want to run off to Belize with it.

You know you have hit some sort of rock bottom when you envy an employed person doing LAUNDRY at Christmas time. Which I am. So yeah... Kudos for you for having a warm water running and a washing machine working.

You mean an UNemployed person, doncha? Unless there was a job in a box I forgot to unwrap?

But yeah, I keep reminding myself that things could be worse. A couple hundred miles north of here, my friend in Georgia had to drive through snow for to visit family for Christmas. Better her than me! I haven't been in snow in more than 20 years, and as for driving in it, no thanks! Torrential downpours I can handle, solid white stuff falling from the sky, not so much!

*raises her head from the tabletop, slightly out of shape due to repeated hitting*
Of course UNemployed, although I would LOVE to give you a job wrapped in a box.
In Estonia the snow has basically killed now our country - trains are running on free schedule, only main highways are more or less free of the white stuff for trafficking and there are power failures all over the place. Internet keeps flickering in and out of existance, and not only in the backwater places but in the middle of our capital! And it keeps snowing still, forecast til Tuesday gives only more snow. Lovely. The southern part of country is getting ice-rain which will finish the job for sure.
