vanillafluffy: (Got chocolate?)

Apparently, there is such a thing as Marmite chocolate. Although I have more or less given up Marmite as detrimental to the puffiness of my ankles, the thought of Marmite/chocolate makes me flail. (Like the profile says, I'm hooked on caffeine, chocolate and Marmite---I just never thought of combining the latter two.)

Bet they don't have THAT shit at World Market!

I'll try almost anything once. More if I like it! And since I love both chocolate and Marmite...mind you, Marmite does not love my ankles, otherwise I would live on the stuff.

Not only is there an official Marmite chocolate... it's a rip off of a fancy pants chocolate released last year: http://www.chocablog.com/reviews/marmite-very-peculiar-milk-chocolate/

I must find both. Now.

I've never heard of it and had to do some Google-fu. Is it anything like Vegemite?

I dunno, I've never actually had Vegemite. The best way I can describe Marmite is, it tastes like soy sauce if soy sauce was the spreadable consistancy of peanut butter. (Since I used to put soy sauce on everything as a kid, including dry slices of white bread, I *LOVE* it. However, I don't indulge often because it makes my ankles puff up like a Clydesdale's.) My preferred snack is to butter some seeded rye bread, add a dollop of Marmite, stir it so that it comingles with the butter (or margerine-type spread) and nomnomnom....

Oh, man...

I'm just the opposite. I tried soy sauce once as a kid and again as an adult and I'm all, DO NOT WANT! It's, basically, too salty for me .

Chocolate covered Marmite would certainly do the trick when one has that craving for sweet and salty!

I think it would also work nicely with some of those ultra-dark chocolates they're making these days. I've always prefered dark chocolate, but IMO, 85% cacao needs *something* for contrast.
