One of my 'zines shows what looks like a really cool project: A gift wrap organizer that's slotted neatly into one of those over-the-door type racks. I think it's a this one with bins 4 and 5 removed:

Nice, but I don't have $60. What I DO have is a 4-drawer file cabinet that's been sitting in the corner of my office, with only the top drawer accessible---until this week. Now I can actually get at it, and discovered that drawers 2-4 mostly have random stuff in them.

Gee, I think I can work with that. At the moment, my gift-wrap supplies have been divided between two picnic baskets, one for gift bags, the other for ribbons and tissue paper. I haven't yet scoped out how I'm going to utilize it, but hey, it's already paid for, I'll think of something.

It's been like discovering a time capsule---there's a big slice of life from 10-15 years ago. Pieces of fic and RPG stuff, letters from my former SIL, newspaper clippings, catalogues (Pottery Barn, Spring 1999), a sample of the newsletter I edited for a while, so now I've got a date I can use and build a resume that features that.

I haven't even been IN the living room yet today. Nor had breakfast, which is sounding more and more like a good idea.

=======================

ETA: After brunch, I started tearing into the blockage in my bedroom, the pile o- stuff that's impeding my access to the closet. Looks like that's good for at least another bag. (The first eight are curbside already, go me.) Whacked myself across the shin with something while I was trying to get into a tight space, and dislodged the plug for the TV. Taking a breather, back at it shortly.

Thanks for the headphones, [livejournal.com profile] gwilliondream!

ETA II: Another bag at the curb, at at least one more between me and the closet. Why was there a cookie sheet under the pillows and pizza boxes?!

When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember that your primary objective was to drain the swamp.

I had to laugh at the cookie sheet. Maybe you meant to warm up the pizza on it and get comfy on a pile of pillows? :D

The lolling on a pile of pillows, definitely!

One of the things I'm hoping will happen in the near future is some TV swapping. I inherited Kat's TV, which I want to set up in my living room. I want to move the LR TV back to my bedroom, to replace the teeny-tiny one I've got. (Honestly, the screen of this laptop is bigger.) All the better for hedonistic purposes!

I had a cookie sheet on the floor board of my back seat for a while- one night, we were giving my sister in law a ride from the hospital.When she went to get in the back seat, her feet went into the cookie sheet and she sort of slid in. It was hilarious.
Cookie sheets are good to have around for a variety of situations. ha ha

I bet she was surprised! :D

I used to have a huge one that was really handy as a worksite for kid art projects when the boy was little. It contained the mess and kept loaded paintbrushes from rolling across the table and onto the carpet.

When we baked cookies for Christmas in '09, I discovered J has a particular kind of cookie sheet---aluminum with hollow chambers (hard to describe). I found one in perfect condition while I was out thrifting and that's what I gave her for her b-day last year. She was delighted---probably a lot more than your SIL was!

Oh, I remember those! Air-something was the name, and they were quite pricey when they came out.
