vanillafluffy: (Yay ME!)

ThunderBunny showed up around ten this morning and just left a few minutes ago. In between, we attacked my living room, specifically my couch and surrounding area and my coffee table. When she left, we were both able to sit side-by-side on said couch (loveseat, actually), and the big-ass coffee table was cleaned down to bare wood and swapped out with a smaller version (actually a side-table).

The ottoman that matches the loveseat came in a year ago and since I didn't have room for it, I stood it on one end beside the door and used it as a dropping-off spot for things as I entered the house. Now it's horizontal as intended, albeit with a plastic bin of stuff to go through atop it. Shift that, though, and voila, additional seating.

The whole rug that anchors the area is visible; the only thing on it is the coffee table. In the process of unearthing it, we found another dozen cans, a new flashlight, and go-ahead-and-laugh-but-it's-really-not-funny, a chair I'd completely forgotten I had. (It was piled with pillows and a bedspread. Which reminds me, I need to launder bedding to go on the sofa-bed; I can't put my BFF on a bare mattress with just sofa cushions, can I?)

This has substantially lessened my anxiety, and once I've reduced the heap o' stuff on the other chair, I'm going to take a pic to send GK so she can see that it's possible to open the bed. Maybe I'll even unfold the bed to prove it.

Mind you, it's not going to be on the cover of House Beautiful any time soon, but it really is a vast improvement.

After you are finished, I suggest a house party in lieu of a housewarming party- have everyone bring a dish and enjoy your new found living room!

I was thinking that! The living room will sit seven if folks double up, and I *do* have folding chairs. The dining room is in okay shape...now it's a matter of tackling the PILE of stuff between the living and dining areas. By next month, I hope, before it gets too warm.

Yes, I know. I would probably destroy your washing machine with the laundry loads.
The trouble right now is that I am the only one going physically out of the house in regular basis and I do all the shopping. So it should mean that my mother and father would do some cleaning, right?
No. My mother usually manages to do ONE chore a day: if she cooks, she does nothing else. If she washes something (by hand, of course), that is the extent of things. And she is so... tired all the time, and she does not go to the doctor either, to learn why she is a wreck before 65. My dad does not want to do anything at all. He only watches TV, so loudly that I cannot fall asleep in the next room when I have to get up early the next day. Thus nothing moves. Nothing.

You're tougher than I am. I would have run away from home already.

*weak laughter* Run where?
I would not bear being in Our Lady's company for a longer while (not in the recent years, definitely), although she would have the room.
Annika does not have the room, and her parents (and younger siblings) are almost as bad. Erm, correction, her parents have screaming and trashing things fits so they are worse.
Perhaps only one would be WurstkittyMistress...
I just do not know... *hides and whimpers*

I was thinking more along the lines of mailing yourself to Ian in Texas, but I suppose with the customs delays, that's not too practical.

They should have ended the postal embargo yesterday but after seeing it extended for 3 times this far, I am not holding my breath...
