I discovered something interesting that I hadn't known: If you click on LJ home, and go down to the very bottom right-hand corner, there's a link you can click on to read the most recent posts (as in the last minute or so). I didn't know that!

I was curious, so I read through a cross-section of this fascinating randomness. There were people talking about their vacations, and school, and some girl 19 year-old young woman who just lost her virginity, and about movies and anime and all kinds of stuff, and I'll tell you something--many of them are serious candidates for [livejournal.com profile] grammar_whores and an awful lot really need to learn how to use a freaking LJ-cut!

People are funny!

EDIT, five minutes later: So, I posted and jumped over to see my entry, and how freaky is this--out of the couple of hundred people who *just* updated, one of them is someone I know in RL (but she doesn't know I have LJ, cuz I don't necessarily want her to know me that well, IYKWIM.). Really, scroll up a couple screens from my post, and there she was....

That is such a nifty little feature! Although it is a bit freaky that one of the people was someone you know IRL. I mean, what are the odds that you'd click on the link and she would come up?

I just had a random thought: reading all those strangers' journals might be interesting inspiration for fiction...

Or inspiration for a migraine...due to bad spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.

But yeah, my jaw dropped when I saw the name on the post. "That's not--?" (Read post) "Holy sh*t, it IS."

That's fascinating. I'd never looked at it before, and it's a little snapshot of life. Aside from the abuse of spelling and grammar and lack of LJ cuts, I was astounded at the number of people who write in Greek. I also saw the most charming photo of someone's dad standing by his truck holding a poodle and a chainsaw. There was something just "awww!" about his shy smile.

(Although the concept of a poodle and a chainsaw could kickstart a fic all on its own . . . )

The juxtaposition fair boggles the mind! That's the kind of thing I'd snag just because it's wild. (Hey, you post it, it's fair game.)

Greek, huh? I thought I was seeing Russian, but that might be my Cold War-fueled imagination.
