For the last several years, this has been my favorite belt. However, because I've lost in the neighborhood of40 pounds since I got it, it doesn't fit any more. It is NOT adjustable. It's made by the company that has the site, but I got it from Torrid, who apparently got it especially in plus sizes, since the manufacturer's idea of XL is about 8" away from girding my waist.

This is unfortunate, because GK gave me a great long black rayon skirt with a taffeta sort of finish. I'd like to wear it with a cinched-in top, but alas, my beloved belt does NOT cinch me in any longer, Torrid doesn't have it, and Little Earth doesn't have it in my size.

Alas, WalMart doesn't *quite* go up to my size. This morning, after a quick visit to the C's---they like to reassure themselves that their dogs still love me before departures---I headed over to Fashion Bug, and I was Very Good. I didn't even try on anything except belts, and of their rather paltry selection, I choose this one:

I have an event to go to on Saturday, and I'm undecided as to which top to wear with it. Ah, well, time enough to choose, and I expect I'll be elegantly turned out.

Hmm...if I go with green, I can further accessorize my ensemble with The Hat....

No, not the one from my icon!

Is The Hat the one you wore to Kat's memorial service? Because that sounded like Some Kinda Wonderful Hat. :D

Good job on the belt! I meant to look for one the last time I went thrifting, but got distracted by finding a Kate Spade handbag on the purse rack. I didn't buy it because it was totally not my style, but was so agog at the sight that going to the belt rack slipped my mind.

A LeSnobbi bag? OMG, what a find! Some of them aren't to my taste, either, but I probably would've been sorely tempted.

Oh, and yes, the green and black hat. I love that hat!

On the other hand, there are an awful lot of fakes out there. If it had a little black cloth/ribbon label on it, run. If it had a "license plate" of metal or leather with gold rivets, it's the real deal. Although sometimes it'll be stamped on the bottom. (I can tell most fakes just by looking at them, I've handled so many of the real thing.)

That store does have pickers who sweep through, so my afterthought is that the bag was probably a fake if it was still there. The pickers tend to ignore the brands I look for -- not designer labels but good-quality nicer department store stuff.

With your talent, I wish we could get you a job with the Commerce Department or whichever federal agency it is that cracks down on fakes trafficking. :)

The Feds? Huh, I never thought of them doing that kind of thing, but I guess counterfeiting is counterfeiting. I know some companies are always out to catch knock-offs---Posh Brits, for one. But yeah, that would be an interesting job!

You've lost so much weight since this photo on the post was taken- you don't even look like the same person!

It's not the greatest picture of me, even when it was recent---but it does highlight the hat!

My goal is to lose 40 lbs---esp before son's wedding.

Okay. If it was June, I'd say it would be too much too soon, but that's not an unreasonable deadline.

Even if I get 30 off, I will be thrilled. Seven down so far. I think it's a combo of no soda of any kind and eating for my IBS. Nothing fried, no cheese, no carbonation, not too much meat. I am sticking to chicken, turkey and fish.
It's been tough but I feel better. The diet soda was really making me eat more as well as making me bloated.

After some see-sawing, I'm back under 300. My biggest nemesis is sodium. I love salty things, and I'm trying very hard to make good choices. NOT adding salt to things, for instance, and reading labels.

I didn't realize (or did and chose to ignore) how much sodium I was consuming in my diet soda. Since I am on BP meds, I decided to let go of it. I do have one every now and again but not the daily cans that I was having.
I am pretty much drinking water with lemon and peppermint tea. I will not give up the morning cup o' joe- I need that to get the cobwebs out. :)
The older I get, the more difficult it is to lose weight. As a teen, I could skip a meal and lose 5 lbs. sigh!

I know what you mean about spikking a meal and losing 5 pounds. I did so muchyo-yo dieting in my teens and 20s that I'm sure ithelped screw up my metabolism. Now, I just wish I weighed what I did then and thought myself fat!

While it may hurt to lose your beloved belt, it's still a personal good thing for you to have said good-bye to those 40 pounds. I know that vast amounts of retail therapy are not in your vista right now, but this sounds like a good investment.

I've got enough black pants and skirts that I can justify this as a need (versus a want). (Although I confess, if they'd had it in brown, I probably would've snagged both.)
