I came over for media night, which we got to after a lengthy discussion of potential dogs. This entails J telling me what the owner's complaints are and asking me what *I* see as the problem and how to solve it. I'm getting pretty good at it.

Anyway, after the dogs, we had a nice chicken and veggie lasagna (Stouffers) and watched "The Golden Compass", which I hadn't seen, although I read the book several years back. It was okay; I was expecting MOAR Daniel Craig. Apparently they're not essaying the sequels. Bummer.

The a/c is even more welcome than the 'net. This summer is beyond hideous; lately it seems like any time I go anywhere I get clammy, light-headed and nauseous about 20 minutes in. Not that staying at home is much better, but there I tend to be sitting or lying down---I've nearly given up on cooking, anything that takes more than five minutes is out.

Tomorrow I need to do laundry. Yes, laundry happens, but SOME of it wouldn't have happened if one (or more, IDK) of Mb's cats hadn't pissed on it.

And some people wonder why I don't like cats.

Here's to hoping the heat wave eases up. Heat waves are just horrible. I barricade myself in my house and don't wanna go out ever again. :)

Alas, it's not a heatwave, just a typical Florida summer. I've been here for ages, but somehow, this summer is just kicking my ass.

That sounds a lot like heat stroke or your blood pressure acting up. ... Or hot flashes. :-/

I began peri-menopause at 37. I was lucky enough not to have severe hot flashes or any night sweats. Even so, there were times in the summers I thought I was going to melt into the sidewalk.

tl;dr
You might want to get your BP and hormone levels checked.

PS: You can make a mini-swamp cooler by placing a damp cloth over, and/or a bowl of ice-cubes in front of, a fan. It will only drop the room temp a few degress, but it feels wonderful blowing on you.

I'd rather think heat stroke...I have a wrist b/p cuff, but I don't have a lot of faith in its results. I can take it three times inside of five minutes and get three different answers.

You may not be waiting long enough for your BP to normalize after first taking it. My BP monitor instructions said if the reading looks off, or I get an error message, to wait at least 10 minutes before trying to reatake it.

Oh? Good to know---I "inherited" said wrist cuff, which didn'tcome with instructions. I knew about making sure my wrist was elevated higher than my heart when doing the reading, but not about giving the machine time to recalibrate---thanks!

I'd come up for a visit if I had a way up there. (If you had room and inclination, that is.)

All I need is to win that damn lottery! Because funnily enough, the first message I typed (and then erased as too much of a tease!) was to say that if I was to win the lottery...

I have a window a/c unit in my bedroom, but I canNOT afford to run it. I had a $70+ FPL bill this month and that was just running fans.

Gosh! I'd be jumping for joy with a $70 bill- ours is $230+ and that's on budget billing!
I think the humidity is the worst and makes things mildew, too. They do make those mildew things you can put around the house to help in the closets and such... this summer has been a brute, for sure!
My neighborhood is having a small rummage sale next week-end- she asked me if I wanted to join in--I thought, "Are you nuts in this heat??"

You'd be too hot to jump for joy---that is without any a/c, just fans. And THAT is why I haven't turned the flippin' thing on!

I'm with you on the yard sale---October, maybe....
