It's that time of year: I'm ready for my semi-annual pruning of the locks. I have an appointment booked for Saturday, noon, and I'm looking forward to getting the excess hair out of my eyes and off the back of my neck.

I have a clipping---I've had it for a long time---and I'm going to take the plunge. It's SHORT. And I don't necessarily define SHORT the same way some people do; theere are lots of gals who would consider my current cut to be SHORT. My definition of "too long" is, when I get out of the shower and shake my head, if it hits me in the face, it's too long.

The cut I'm contemplating is really short in back and on the sides, longer on top and it shows how to do little pincurls for a softening effect. I'm liable to look like a drill sargeant with a perm, but y'know? I don't care as long as it's out of my face/off my neck/comfortable. It's hair, it'll grow.

I am with you~ especially in this hotter than the hinges of hell climate that we live in.
I cut mine right before I left for NY~ it's easy and cool. I don't give a tinker's damn what anyone thinks. :)

My attempts at self-styling have not been pretty. And it's not so much a case of caring what other people think---but *I* know from past experience that some ultra-short cuts *really* don't flatter me. But at this time of year, looking like a gone-to-seed gladiator is a small price to pay.

Oh, I didn't cut it myself! God only knows what damage I would do. I got a body wave a couple of months ago so it stays nice and still and out of my eyes! My hair is thick but flat so I need body waves~ me and the old ladies in town. :)

Body wave? Sounds like a variety of perm, and I've been leary of them since the one especially disasterous one I tried that left me looking like a L'Oreal sheep. NOT a good look!

It definitely has to be done by a professional or you can end up looking like Little Orphan Annie!
My hairdresser is the bomb~

I go to a place called Andrea's ~ right past the Humane Society on Cox Rd. My hairdresser is Lisa Dimeco~ super nice lady. My daughter-in-law attended dental assisting school with Lisa's daughter so that's how I met her. She always does exactly what I ask and is just a really nice person.

I'll keep that in mind! I go to MI Salon, which is down the street from Popeyes chicken. It's pretty much a one-woman show, and Tari has given me some really good cuts, so I'm gonna stick with her.

Also, I have a bunch of stuff to do on the island, so her location is good, too.

Yeah, I'm almost to the point of trying to ferret out one of my old headbands to keep it out of my eyes for the nextcouple days.

My hair is thick, naturally curly and it's currently more than halfway down my back (it hits just below my bra strap). I'm with you, though - I can't STAND it in my face, probably from years of wearing glasses. So I never wear bangs and I pull the sides up/back with clips.

Mine's thick enough, has wave until it gets past five or six inches in length, and I've had it long from time to time---after I got rid of my ex, I grew it out for out five years---but it's just not worth the trouble. I prefer wash-and-go.
