This has been a weird week, and yeah, I know it's not over yet.

Spent a day at J's dog-sitting---she was over in Orlando and the neighbor who usual acts as doggie-butler has her own drama going on and was unavailable. I got to sleep in a/c, which was sweet. Came out to a dead battery and had to wait for J's return and a jump-start---my own fault: The door didn't latch properly, the light stayed on, which wasn't noticable when I got there in broad daylight.

My lights got turned off for non-payment. I have the money, but because I've been nervous about how fast it's shrinking, I delayed paying, which led to me sitting in the heat for several hours after I made the payment, which cost me an additional service charge. *facepalm* Yes, I know it was stupid of me, please let's not rub my nose in it.

I heard about Ray Bradbury's death and was startled, as I *thought* he'd already passed. I may have confused him with Kurt Vonnegut, both of whom I considered somewhat subversive in high school. IDK. Anyway, good-bye, Mr. Bradbury. You were a great American writer.

Speaking of writing, I'm really pissed with ff.net, which is on my last frackin nerve. It doesn't want to load---it takes multiple attempts every time. I hate their new log-in. I hate that they no longer give you the option to block ads. And I'm livid about their "reiteration" of their ratings policy. I'm about ready to jump ship for AO3, which annoys me mightily; I've been over their for about eight years now. I have a shitload of stuff posted there, including some major multi-chapter works, which it'll be a four-star pain-in-the-ass to crosspost, because AO3 does NOT make it easy. Grrrr.

My sleep schedule is back to being buggered up; I'm never quite sure of what day it is unless I check my phone. I hate it, but sleeping during the day is more bearable than being awake for it. Lots of cold showers either way.

Watched Rosalind Russell in "Sister Kenny" the other day. I figured Roz as a nun dealing with an epidemic would be a triple-play as far as my kinks go...alas, no nuns, but it was still okay. Saw "Walking Tall" (the Rock remake), which I'd seen when it was in the theater...prime case of "I didn't know he/she was in that!"...in this case, the love interest was Aisha in Dark Angel and Emily in Jericho. One of the minor villains was also in Dark Angel (Joshua), and the factor that sucked me in as I was flipping channels, Neal McDonough as the uber-villain. Justified just won't be the same without him next season!

Apologies to [livejournal.com profile] jdsgirlbev and [livejournal.com profile] gwyilliondream, both of whom had birthdays earlier this week. Hope they were awesome like you!

Hope it gets better from here on out. I cracked my neck a little while ago...sounded like my head was about to fall off, which wouldn't surprise me.

I've never been keen on ff.net mostly because I hated the desigb with a passion. I find A03 has a much "cleaner" look - though I still have to upload my fic there, and it has been terribly slow recently. *G*

I hope next week is better for you than this one. Onwards amd upwards!

FF.net is where I started out when I was a n00b to organized fandom. Not that I'm in much deeper these days. There and here and AO3. Never been to any cons, don't track star tweets r rewatch anything obsessively---really, I'm fairly mild as fangirls go....

I think the only reason I never really used it is that I came through lists and posting stories to list archives or list websites and never really made the jump to FF.net.

Also whenever I've searched for fic there I've never found particularly good stuff. Mostly I suspect because I found the interface cluttered and messy and because I was getting more than enough good stuff first on list and then later when people moved to LJ.

The one thing I really like about A03 - even though some of the tagging and searching can give, um, idiosyncratic results - the all the white space and clarity of the interface and reading pages. That and the fact that it is just so damn easy to download stuff.

My nest task is to get my own fic up there. *G*

I never managed to get into posting on FF.Net....now I'm glad I didn't.

My sleep schedule is back to being buggered up; I'm never quite sure of what day it is unless I check my phone. I hate it, but sleeping during the day is more bearable than being awake for it. Lots of cold showers either way.

Insomnia? Or is it from the heat? Over here, I had a couple bad nights, til I remembered that exercise helps me sleep while on vacation. Now I'm trying to Zumba every day, and it's helping so far. Whew!

*sends you positive vibes*

The heat is part of it. Also, I never really got over working 2nd shift, even though it's been years since I did.

I need to get more active. Alas, I can't afford to join anywhere that would have a/c.

Meh, I had a terrible night last night myself. On the plus side, I eventually gave up trying to sleep and managed instead to write the first part of an Avengers Loki/Jane (eventually BDSM) fic, so....I guess it wasn't all bad. ;)

Hm. I sometimes found that jogging was a good (and cheap!) activity to do. You have to work up to it (probably start with 10 mins, max), and it's gonna hurt like hell for the first few days, but then it gets easier. Slap on the mp3 player and you're good to go!

I'm glad to hear you're writing again. I haven't seen Avengers yet, and the only origin movies I've seen are the Tron Man franchise (but wwell-written BDSM is always fun).

Or at least a brisk walk....

I highly recommend it! RDJ is his usual yummy self, Capt America, Thor and Hawkeye aren't hard on the eyes either, and I'm currently crushing very hard on Loki, so...lots of yummies. Great action scenes and funny dialogue, too.

This fic is giving me a run for my money. It keeps wanting to go non-con, and I have to keep grabbing it by the ear and yanking it back into BDSM instead. Naughty naughty, Loki!

And yes, brisk walking is also good!
