This morning, I got up and showered and ran over to the mall. Caught two movies back-to-back and had a lovely time!

Walk the Line -- Wow. So wow, I hardly know where to start. The casting was outstanding; I can't say enough good things about Phoenix and Witherspoon. The music was excellent--I may have to acquire the soundtrack. And the production values--! I was just in awe. Everything was so *right*. Whoever did set design deserves an Oscar for it, no kidding. Everything from the wallpaper to the jewelry to the product containers and periodicals. Car. Clothes. Appliances. Everything was so period-perfect that I was as much enraptured by that as I was by the story, which was done wonderfully, with a heaping helping of Unresolved Sexual Tension. I highly recommend it!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire -- As always, the Potterverse is a visual treat. Well up to the standard of the previous films, *although* fond readers will be nonplussed by the amount of subplots which have been written out. I won't say this is a bad thing; in some places judicious rewriting makes the story easier to follow. They kept my favorite scene--where Moody turns Draco into a ferret--and made it even funnier. (You've got to see it to believe it!) The thing that delighted me most was the fact that they made more use of Neville than in the original book AND it made perfect sense for them to do so. (Not enough Rita Skeeter though--!) Warning, you want to make a pitstop beforehand and *don't* order a large drink. I was on the verge of kidney failure by the third challenge.

It's been such a lovely long weekend. Why can't we have more of them?!
