Is it just me--? (Rant)

A popular 21-year old actress is loudly avowing that she is NOT promiscuous. She says:

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not promiscuous. There does seem to be a mistaken belief out there that I am sexually available somehow — which is not to say that I'm not open-minded about sex," she continues. "Yet I wouldn't say I'm a serial monogamist, either. I mean, I went through periods of time when I was, ah, single. But when I'm in a relationship, I'm in a relationship.

I'm a little confused by the juxtapositon of serial monogamy, being single and times she was in a relationship. WTF? How does "being in a relationship" differ from monogamy? Or am I showing my essential vanilla-ness?

I do think on some basic level we are animals, and by instinct we kind of breed accordingly," she says. "But as much as I believe that, I work really hard when I'm in a relationship to make it work in a monogamous way.

I'm reading this as, she only screws around when she can't help herself. And if she slips, well, she's got these primitive needs, it's not her fault! That makes everything just ginger-peachy. Cuz, well, she tried! Any second now, I'm gonna have a Yoda moment....

I get tested for HIV twice a year. One has to be socially aware," she says. "It's part of being a decent human, to be tested for STDs. It's just disgusting behavior when people don't. It's so irresponsible.

Wait a second---she's 21 and she feels the need to get tested twice a year? This doesn't say much for her powers of monogamy or success in long-term relationships. What am I saying? She's 21; to her six months IS a long-term relationship. Socially aware? IMO, that's just pretentious. Testing is what she does so she can tell herself it's okay to fuck like a mink.

*sigh* I'm hormonal and bitchy and part mink myself at the moment, and listening to this slut child prattling about what makes a decent human being makes me want to sew her twat shut really annoys the heck out of me.
