Birdwatchers do it....

Today was my last day of mandatory overtime, tra-la! This makes me happy, since the commute is overtime in itself, IMO. Some of my younger co-workers think I'm insane for driving so far (twenty-odd miles each way), even when I smile and explain that I'm making $3 an hour more than I was at the far, far crappier job I had that was only four miles away. But---I get approximately 30 mpg, so I've paid for my gas for the day with my first hour's work, and the rest is gravy.
The commute has become fairly routine---now that I'm not in the middle of rush hour, I'm coping with equanimity---and there are occasional happy moments, like today, when I found myself eyeballing a glossy black Packard Eight, with gleaming a chrome hood ornament and fat white whitewall tires. I got alongside it at a light, and gave the driver a big smile and a thumbs up. He appeared old enough to be the original owner, and gave me a Look, as if wondering what I was smirking about. *ecstatic sigh* I'm only sorry I didn't get a look at the front of it. I mean, Jiminy-shit, how often do you *see* a Packard?
Now I'm thinking, maybe I'll get myself a calendar for next year, and keep a list of the neat vehicles I see on my travels---kind of a like a bird-watchers Life List, only in this case, a Lust List. I've already got a few that cars I eyeball on a regular basis. I'm SO goofy sometimes---but there are times, like this, when seeing something old/rare/cool will put a big smile on my face. God knows---if I *ever* win the lottery, I'm going to need a six-car garage, and I'm going to have some outrageous wheels.
This week's Goodwill raid netted me several over-sized shirts---some of which are large enough that I'm going to pass them along to A, who'll fill them out better than I. Also found a pair of tan slip-ons: not penny loafers---they have woven leather over the toes, but they're loafer-styled.
Work was pretty tame; I think most people have figured out that their chances of receiving an order in the remaining time is craptastic. Placed a couple passable orders for Posh Brits, a couple for Butch Boots, but the big surprise of the night came around 10:45, when I got a gal who placed an $1800 order with Fit-nazis. Snap! *That* should do groovy things for my sales totals!
There was no excitement on the way home, which, after last night, was perfectly fine with me. Today is my Friday...my plans call for church tomorrow morning, some grocery shopping, and then I'm going to sit my ass down and write (and answer e-mail and screw around...). I don't have to be anywhere until 3 PM Tuesday. Yay!
