vanillafluffy: (phone ringing)

This morning I had a call from someone I gave a resume to at that job fair a month ago. The gal mentioned my vast phone experience in approving terms, and I'm going down there tomorrow for an interview/testing. Yay! Everyone, please keep your fingers crossed!

It's 25 miles each way, which doesn't thrill me, but since it pays $11 an hour, as opposed to my old job, which was less that $8 (and that after being there almost 5 years!), I think I can afford the commute.

Thankfully, the weather has gotten mild enough that I can wear one of my business-like suits without sweating like some kind of farm animal. (Birdcage reference!) Or maybe I'll wear the new brown outfit that K got me. The average call center is pretty casual, in my experience---and if I wear that, I can wear it again to church on Sunday. (I'm going from the interview to Schnauzerland for the weekend, so I'm preplanning my packing.)

I wonder if they'll want me to start Monday, or if they'll be hiring through next week.

Fingers crossed!

*hugs* I'm trying not to be too excited, but damn, this is something I know I can do. Their idea of a test is probably some typing test kind of thing I could do in my sleep. (I remember going in to test for the directory assistance position I had, mega-nervous---typed 40 wpm and didn't find out until later that 20 wpm was passing. So yeah, I'm not sweating that.) And with call center jobs, they don't care if you're fat, since the public doesn't see you and it doesn't detract from the sacred corporate image. *lip curls*

Appreciated! (Just make sure you stretch once in a while so you don't get stuck that way!)

Fingers crossed for you!

I bet people rarely rate you badly for an interview for being too well-dressed.

I figure anything that would be good enough for me to wear to church is suitable for an interview. That allows for some latitude.

Okay. :) But, this is our church we're talking about, right? ;) Not the Catholics or somebody.

Ours...but allowing for the fact that my congregation has a pretty relaxed "dress code". It's Florida---shorts and Hawaiian shirts are NOT uncommon.
