Go to http://www.filehippo.com and download a terrific free program called CCleaner (Crap Cleaner - no really)! Then run it on your friend's computer. Trust me. It won't remove anything important, but the UNimportant shit it totally cleans up will blow your mind. Choose the "backup registry" option, and then restart. See if that doesn't help....at least, a little bit. :-)
