I just got off the phone with BC, who was wanting to know if I still had some software that GK had loaned me, which I don't, and we chatted for a bit. Fingers crossed, he has a potential buyer for Kat's mobile home, currently being inhabited by NosyNeighbor. NN is freaking out about having to move, but tough shit, says BC, because he's about $1K behind on his rent, which wasn't exorbitant, just enough to cover insurance on the place.
We were talking about movies---I haven't seen anything new since he, #1 Son and I saw "The A-Team"...I mentioned that I really wanted to see "Machete!", which he was indifferent to UNTIL I mentioned it was a Robert Rodriguez film. THEN his ears perked up. The upshot is, he's taking me to a matinee on Friday. *rubs hands togther gleefully*
My week is filling in nicely; I have The Party on Thursday (I presume), movie with BC on Friday, possibly something with S after that, on Saturday I have a meetup with Big Red to look forward to (details remain to be firmed up), and that evening there's something non-birthday related going on at church. Sunday evening is Supper Club, and theoretically I'll have money by then, so maybe this month* I can actually go.
Plus, there will be surprise goodies showing up in my mailbox. I probably sound like I think it's all about me, which I don't. The exact opposite, in fact; with no immediate family and being perpetually single, I often feel invisible when it comes to celebrations---so I'm looking forward to some hooplah for a change.
Love to the hooplah contributors, you know who you are.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
*ETA -- I just realized I mistyped that as "maybe this money I can go" instead of "this month". Oh, subsconscious, you are not subtle.

Brain crumbs
Jul. 16th, 2009 01:50 amI spent most of the day watching TV: WNTW, Overhaulin', The Cleaner, Leverage, Mission: Impossible, a couple eps of Band of Brothers, some Dharma and Greg---and squeed loudly when I got confirmation that Watchmen will be out next week. The titles of the first three eps of SPN are listed on IMDb, but you didn't hear them from me....
Had prepackaged turkey over free bagels for brunch, a can of chili over free cornbread for dinner. Made a speedy WalMart run for laundry detergent---I'm on my second load---and got some of the white stuff on the little cardboard rolls (as opposed to the stuff on the BIG cardboard rolls, which is either used for kitchen messes or wrapping packages, depending on the length of the roll---YES! Size matters!).
My arms and shoulders are still Not Happy---I'm wondering how long until the new mattress takes effect. Maybe I ought to try the muscle relaxers again? Because I'm at the wake-and-grab-the-Excedrin stage again, which is undesirable.
Eight weeks until I turn 49, and I'm falling apart. Seven weeks, two days until my "vacation" starts---I'm off September 5th thru 10th, although I can't afford to do anything dramatic. I'd like to have a party, but it would have to be at the church...and then what? I could scrounge up enough money for cake and ice cream, but we're all a little old for pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and I'm not sure what to do about tunes---and besides, no one to dance with.... *sigh* Please don't let this be PMS, I'm so tired of that whole business!
Threesome that would be fairly awesome: Abby from NCIS, Garcia from Criminal Minds and the chick from the Progressive commercials. Maybe solving a diamond heist at the mall, or something like that.
Okay, it's official---2AM crazy, or pretty darn close. Time to gomake the donuts check the stuff in the dryer.

Birthday wrap-up
Sep. 9th, 2008 11:33 pmI had a pleasant time this evening with AI---we met up at Barnes & Noble---I got there early and spent an hour rummaging around...did NOT buy The Watchmen graphic novel, because I'm reasonably sure I can find it online for under $20. *Did* get a book on making collage jewelry, for inspirating more than instruction.
After checking out, we headed across the street to Ruby Tuesdays. We both started with the salad bar and the blackberry lemonade (which I found a bit too tart). I tried the bison burger, which was interesting---not bad, but probably not going to replace beefsteak any time soon. Yummy cheese fries. Chocolate tallcake for dessert---couldn't finish it, even with help.
AI presented me with a patchwork bag---mostly in shades of red with gold soutache and sequins---containing a mirror in a little leather case, a matching box suitable for things like hairpins and elastic bands, and a set of Chinese foo dogs for protection. Very cool.
She departed after dinner; I went into Books-a-Million, where I added the latest Mary Engelbreit Home Companion and a SPN fanzine to my acquisitions. Came home, watched The Cleaner---which I'm quite hooked on!---and laughed muchly when I read in the fanzine that Kripke hates The Doors. (Because, LOOK at Seen and Unseen---all the chapters concluded with Doors lyrics!)
Lunch with Kat tomorrow, then back to the grind Thursday. (Unless I win the Lotto tomorrow night, in which case, all bets are off!)

I'm having a nice b-day. Called GK for a chat, have gotten best wishes from loved ones on my f'list, and the above icon, which is way too cute.
Speaking of way too cute, last night, I dreamed I rescued an adorable little brown and white puppy of no discernable breed, except that he was smooth coated and teacup-sized and wore a wee red leather collar.
Now I'm off to Barnes & Noble to meet AI. More later!
