Didn't do a whole lot Monday, but it wasn't a total loss. I've got a bunch of VHS tapes boxed up, ready to depart, and in their place, the lion's share of my DVDs. I must get the rest of them over there and freaking alphabetize them. Yes, I AM that OCD; playing games of "Do I have...?" and "I know damn well I have---!" is making me crazy.

I also plugged in an extension cord and got ready to vacuum my area rug, but the hose that attaches to my canister vac is MIA. Swell. I seem to recall flinging it out into the garage, God help me! Took down the big clock I inherited from Kat. It's beautiful; it has Roman numerals and a faux copper rim, and it doesn't keep time for beans. I've displayed my ratty copy of "Daily Bread", which is a tight squeeze in the same space, but IDC.

That isn't the only artwork on display. On top of the same bookcase that's holding "keeper" VHS and the DVDs, I've got pastel portraits of Kat and VC, circa 1965. They're not in perfect condition, which is one reason no one else spoke up for them, but I think they have a certain naive charm. I'm sure GK will be amused to see them.

I found a twin fitted sheet, go me. Clean, too. I'm piling linens atop the ottoman that matches the sofa. I still need to tackle the garage and pillows. ([livejournal.com profile] pwcorgigirl, I'm probably going to use your "fluff and restuff" technique if they don't bounce back after washing.)

Did dishes, hit some of the high-traffic areas a lick with a damp mop.

Made time for recreation, too, namely watching American Pickers and Harry's Law. I'd forgotten how much I LOVE David E. Kelley's writing. He may offer up diatribes against social injustice, but he always does it with cmpelling, engaging characters.

The house-warming wall hanging for the gal at church is a WIP. I began transforming it in earnest over the weekend. I have a few ideas of what else I'm going to do with it, but that's going to require some time with J's soldering iron.

This is the basic tapestry:

Now it's full of stars (reference intentionsl *smirks*) and shiny bits, and I really hope she likes it.

Rooting around in one of the side drawers of my desk---the one I rarely get into because it's under the arm rest---I discovered a tin chocolate box filled with blank notecards. How long have they been there? I'll give you a hint: There were some 32-cent stamps enclosed.

Between yesterday's catatonia and Daylight Saving Time kicking in, it was nearly 6AM when I finally fel asleep, and then my alarm was set for 9:20, which was a joke, as I kept hitting the snooze alarm til 10:10. Guh.

Church was very interesting, though. Professor Michael Moriarty (No, really!) gave a talk entitiled "His Story, Her Story, the Irish Story" which was enthralling. I was quite put out when he was asked to rein it in so that we could end the service and have hospitality. Very often when it's a guest speaker, I'm all, "Will this fool shut up so we can eat?" because some of said imported speakers are talkative windbags.

The thumbnail version: The history of Ireland is as convoluted as Celtic knotwork.

Came home and napped, not surprisingly. Dreamed, more weirdness, but I don't remember details.

Last night as I was meandering about in the wee hours, I changed out the tablecloth in the dining room. Much as I love the retro one, it's in need of laundering---the dish garden keeps overflowing every time I water it, and le retro was looking a bit under par. So, for the time being, the table is being protected by a fresh-out-of-the-bag vinyl covering, which I've had for ages. It was still in the bag because I got it on clearance and couldn't even get at the table to clear it off. Clearly, I've made progress.

In fact, there are not one! Not two! But three---THREE! chairs clustered around my little round dining table: A folding chair, a rolling chair and one of the two chairs it came with. The other chair it came with is parked beside the front door with a long rectangular mirror propped on it to give me something resembling a full-length mirror.

I also went around and assimilated all my DVDs. Or at least all the ones I could find. My copy of "The Trouble With Angels" is STILL MIA, which annoys the crap out of me; I want to watch it again. I really need to work on (Note recurring theme here) clearing off the low bookcase from the office. It's destined for the living room, because my current DVD storage is woefully inadequate. Which is going to mean moving furniture. Oh, joy.

Anyhoo, I'm still alive and well....

I was window shopping on Amazon, and they referred me here (http://www.warlockvideos.com/index.html) for something they didn't have, and I've spent the last 20 minutes squeeing and emailing a bunch of people, going, "Lookie here! They've got this! And that! And OMG, this other thing!" If I had a spare $100, which, sadly, I don't, I would SO be snagging Vengeance Unlimited and Covington Cross and Misfits of Science...and maybe a couple other things. *coughDavidMcCallumInvisibleMancough*

Lamentably, they don't have The Burning Zone, but who knows, maybe someday....
